??? For the Gardner's!

I was just out getting the tomatoes ready for the ground, I loaded up the ground with compost and the soil looks great!!

Now the problem, I noticed (after of coarse) that the compost was loaded with TERMITES!! *>:(

Will they go away, or will they eat my plants what should I do??

Re: ??? For the Gardner's!

might eat the stakes, but i don't think they will bother the plants, did you have compost pile in your yard or did you bring it in?

Think about it. They eat deadwood. ::)

The grounds around the house are loaded, any regular wood left out there gets eattin, The house is treated all the time, but get 30 feet away and you will fimd them.
Just never saw them in the garden before?

MJ, I've never seen that before but I wouldn't worry about those termites.

Quit bragging ::) ;D All my chit is almost dead :'( I think we've had exactly 1 drop of rain in the last month. I mean its bad man. Reel bad. I've got entire rows (~75') of corn that didn't come up. Entire rows of white potatoes that didn't come up. Entire rows of green beans that didn't come up.

But on the bright side, my tomato plants are looking good. I have 12 this year and I've been hitting em with miracle grow about once a week with waterings in between ;) I got some starting to bear fruit but its still gonna be a week or two before any are ripe. Went out and tied the top part to the stakes yesterday evening.

My cucumbers also came up for the most part. And the grass is doing great despite no rain :-/

Re: ??? For the Gardner's!

Wish I had time to re-plant all my corn b4 that rain gets here....bummer

On the bright side, my family and I sell roasted corn at the Southeast Old Threshers Reunion, which is a local festival for antique tractors and farm equipment. I'm sure Randlemanboater has heard of it - maybe even been there. We sell tons of silverqueen roasted corn out there and sometimes we have some left over which I will cut off the cob and freeze. I hope we have some left this year :-/

RB you readin this? Planning on going this year? You should. I will PM you in case you don't read this.

Sorry about the hijack MJ but at least I'm on topic ::)
