Fred Dalton Thompson-Lobbyist

From 1975 to 1992 Thompson worked as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. He represented such clients as Westinghouse, General Electric (the current corporate owner of the NBC Universal-NBC television network), and the Tennessee Savings and Loan League.[8]

By 1982, Thompson was lobbying the U.S. Congress for passage of the Savings and Loan deregulation legislation. The federal deregulation legislation allowed for additional government support of ailing S&Ls; gave U.S. thrifts the freedom to invest in potentially more profitable, but riskier, ventures; and eliminated interest-rate ceilings on new accounts. Thompson's recommendations were incorporated into the Garn - St Germain Depository Institutions Act of 1982.[8]

In 1991, he began work with the Washington, D.C. firm of Arent, Fox, Kintner, Plotkin, & Kahn, representing overseas business entities as a registered foreign agent.[8]

***The Garn-St Germain Depository Institutions Act of 1982 was a United States federal law enacted in 1982 that deregulated the Savings and Loan industry. This deregulation was a major contributing factor in the subsequent Savings and Loan crisis in the late 1980s.

The bill, whose full title was "An Act to revitalize the housing industry by strengthening the financial stability of home mortgage lending institutions and ensuring the availability of home mortgage loans," was a Reagan Administration initiative.

The bill is named after its sponsors, Congressman Fernand St. Germain, Democrat of Rhode Island, and Senator Edwin Garn, Republican of Utah.

This guy had my interest, til the L word jumped outta his past ... just what we need in the White House...a practitioner of one of the main things wrong w/our government ::) ...

I like what Ron Paul says. He's a true Constitutionalist. Unfortunately, he doesn't stand a chance of winning. I think for most of the middle roaders, he's viewed too far to the right. Much of what Tancredo has too say bears listening to, but he won't do it for most either.
Mitt Romney is my guy and he actually stands a chance of winning. 8) ;)

I like what Paul's sayin' too ... ya never know when a ground-swell of support might swing his way...I'm pretty sure there are a LOT of people/voters who are VERY unhappy w/today's politics and are ready for somebody to change the system ... the problem I see is if he were to get elected, the large opposition to change he'd face from all the fat-cat career leeches who don't want their gravy-train messed with ...but we GOTTA start somewhere...what we've been doin' AIN'T workin' ...

Chum, Romney's a 2nd generation career politician who's family has steered it's fortune from the helm of our government ... I'm more than a little repulsed by people who amass fortunes by the detriment of others, while pretending to help ... the whole scam's becoming more transparent every day ... and it sure isn't JUST Romney ... and it sure isn't a self-correcting problem ... the voters need to rethink old habits ... at one time, I's thinkin' Rudy was the man, but lotta baggage there,too...

The only good news I definately see in '08 is the end of the Bush years ... this country couldn't take much more of his abuse...no matter who gets the vote, it'll be an improvement...

If the white, straight, middle-class, Christian, men would ever organize and buck up and demand to be heard like so many other "groups" in this country do, we might actually have a chance to save this ship. This will never happen because of everyone's too scared of being called a racist, sexist, "Christianright" winger. When I say everyone, I mean the majority of this "group". Most people have been brainwashed by the constant bombardment of the media, government, and big corporations in their lives and just accepts what comes their way. It's easier to just pay higher taxes to give handouts, and special privleges, and payraises to congressmen, and bullsh!t wars, and free trade with third world countries and the list goes on..........

I'll stop now, many of you will agree, some of you won't....

whatever!

saw a bumper sticker the other day " Don't be afraid of being White!" give em credit for hanging that one on their truck. I figure we need one that says " Make no excuses for being a majority!"
