I'm a little bummed out tonight

Need to talk, makes me feel a little bit better. We were going to adopt an 8 yr old little girl, and she has been living with us for 10 months, but it just didn't work out. She and the Admiral just didn't get along. She and I were tightly attached. We took her to her new foster home today , so I'm bluesing pretty bad. Sorry to bring ya'll down. :'(

So sorry to hear that bro. the Lords works in mysterious ways though and all things happen for a reason. I'm sure you planted some lifelong seeds in that little girls life and she will be a better person because of it. Chin up!

hang in there, the chemistry has to be right for the family to thrive.

A guy at work had 2 "crack" kids that he & his wife took in and the mom al of a sudden decided she was clean & sober and took them back, they fought it, but the judge went with the natural mom. they had those kids for 2 years. i think the mom just found how much more benefits the kids would get her.

I wish I knew what to say. That's got to be tough for everyone involved. I hope that something good happens to bring your spirits back up.

You will always have the memories of the two years you spent together and the fact of knowing you had some time to instill some good habits and lessons.

Dont beat your self up.. There are no guarantees even with you own kids...I dont think I could do it after raising two of my own..God knows ther are lots of kids that need a break but it has to be right for everyone or it will destroy the family...Frank

frayed, sf is right on the money as is reel. You have bigger cojones than me just for trying something like that. Be persistant and the right matchup will happen with a little magic for all concerned.

For what it's worth, one of Janine's co-workers adopted an infant daughter from China. It worked out so well that they are going to adopt a second little girl.

Thanks for the encouraging words fellas. I don't think we will try it again, it's way to painful if the same thing happens. I believe that if we were to get a kid as an infant, perhaps it could work. But you have to spend $$ to get one. Overseas adoptions are expensive, many thousands of $$ just to apply. You cannot get a healthy white baby, even through the state, unless you are lucky or rich, and I am neither. I'll look into the Big Brothers or some other mentoring org and take a kid fishing or sumfin.

Frayed, you done a great thing, even if it didn't work. These other guys are right. My best friends have adopted twice, once from Columbia, more recently from the States. They got reel lucky this last time around. Sounds like its time for a mental health day on the Frayed Knot, just check the drive oil before you go ;)

Frayed,

Sorry for your heartache and pain. My wife and I couldn't wait for our son to leave home because he drove us crazy at times. Now that he is in the Air Force we would do anything possible to get him back home with us. You are a great man to do what you have done with the child. God will reward you when you least expect it....

Hey Frayed, I know that hurts man but I just want to echo what all the other guys said in previous posts.

Best of luck to you and yours. You never know how things are gonna turn out....things happen for a reason.

Sorry to hear about your situation but she will rember what you did, for her entire life. You have built some happy memories which no one can ever take from you and what you did is more than most people would ever do. I think your idea about being a big brother is a very good idea as their are a many children needing someone they can look up to and give guidence. Like others have said things happen for a reason it just takes time to see the way life takes you.

Again, thanks boys, it really helps. I know God has plans for me, I just wish I knew what they were. ;) Until then, I think He said something about fishing ;D

frayed knot: Issues involving kids can be disappointing for a lot of reasons either yours or others believe me Ive been there and done that (my youngest son was shot when he was 17 and looks at things much differently now ) and I commend you for stepping up to the plate and giving it a swing..On another subject how is the striper fishing under the new bern bridges in the winter? We had a really crappy season here in Beaufort this year, they were here today gone tomorrow but I did hook up with some 8 to 11 pound hatteras blues in january but no stripers..Frank
