Re: Oyster Roast
Not meaning to ignore the attempted self invites, but ya'll don't really don't want to go somewhere you will bust a gut eating and fall in the fire drinking and then have to wake up to the smell of a breakfast casserole and coffee just to have to shuck the remaining oysters to have to make an oyster stew to eat them for lunch as to not to waste them.
Billy Mac this stew was a whole butt (cooked), 2cans of cream corn, 2 cans of baby butterbeans, 4 cans of whatever stewed tomatoes you like and a bottle of your local favorite BBQ sauce and simmered all day. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...Picture023.jpg The traditional stew has a mix of vegetables and meats (usually including chicken, squirrel, pork, etc.) The childrens story "Stone Soup" is very close to the way to prepare it. |
Re: Oyster Roast
Thanks, sounds good, looks good. billy Mac ;D

Re: Oyster Roast
Tsubak I saw your admonishment but got to tell you that sounds like a very recent shindig I had in Lake Solitude La. about 45 minutes north of Baton Rouge.
Saw as long as you got space on the ground for a mat and sleeping bag I am good to go ;D |
Re: Oyster Roast
Man that looks good.....all of it.
We usually shuck out any leftovers and make oyster omlets for breakfast. |
Re: Oyster Roast
Sorryness got the best of me the next morning about shucking the leftovers, almost ashamed to post this but it was a lot easier.

Re: Oyster Roast
WOW, sounds like you guys know how to party ;D
|
Re: Oyster Roast
I'm not a big fan of oysters (yeah, I know ::) ), but I love a good ol' oyster roast. You're outside, it's (often) chilly, you've got a good fire going, smell of woodsmoke, cooler of beer, maybe a bottle of bourbon for later, some good 'que to eat . . .
Man, life sure is good. ;D |
Re: Oyster Roast
someone say bourbon too ;)

We had to cancel the 2008 Friday after Thanksgiving thing due to the Mrs.'s having several surgeries at the same time.
And this year we were too sorry to go all out. Just ended up steaming some stuff (Low Country Boil). A couple of pictures from last night. The cooker to do it all. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...i3/1109003.jpg And the size of the oysters were about the biggest we have ever seen. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...i3/1109005.jpg Food in the trough. Yes it is appropriate, bunch of pigs here. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...i3/1109006.jpg One of the monster oysters. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...i3/1109010.jpg Outside of the cooker. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...i3/1109008.jpg Finally got everybody out the house and headed back to theirs about 15 minutes ago. . |
I got no invite in the mail again, what up with that Tsubaki
