DEMOCRAT VS REPUBLICAN
DEMOCRAT: YOU HAVE TWO COWS, YOUR NEIGHBOUR HAS NONE, YOU RAISE TAXES TO HELP YOUR NEIGHBOUR
BUY A COW, BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO SELL 1 OF YOURS TO PAY THE INCREASE IN TAXES. REPUBLICAN: YOU HAVE TWO COWS, YOUR NEIGHBOUR HAS NONE: YOU MOVE TO A BETTER NEIGHBOURHOOD. LESTERUS |

And that is why I am registered "no party affiliation"
It makes me sick when I hear people say I'm a De or I'm a Rep, so I pull one lever and done. I for one still believe in my freedom of choice and I will research all the candidates before I go vote. |
Re: DEMOCRAT VS REPUBLICAN
I am with you parish. I am registered with one party, but I always split my ticket, from presidential races down to city county council. I do not care with what party the candidate is affiliated; I just want the best man or woman for the job.

Re: DEMOCRAT VS REPUBLICAN
Lesterus,
I know that you have a unique perspective on government. I just believe that our country is in need of a major overhaul. That why we have elected officials and not dictators. We are sending much of our manufacturing jobs over seas, corporations and walmart are the winners there. Now our kids and grandkids are getting toys full of lead. How many time do you call for customer assistance, cable tv, credit cards, etc and get a call center in India? China, India, etc are the worst environmental polluters in the world. Next time you go to Sam's Club pick of a package of food ans see where it comes from. China or Indonesia, Thailand whatever. Whats happening with our farmers, fisherman, ranchers here??? What kind of standards do they have?? We are relying on fossil fuels, of which we don't own much. Shell, Exxon-Mobil, BP all have posted record profits. Oil is around $95 a barrel, gas is well over $3 a gallon. Much of the worlds oil comes from the middle east, is it just a coincidence we are at war over there. Take some of those TRILLIONS of dollars the war is costing us (money we are borrowing from China) and invest it in alternative fuels. Take the money out of the middle east, they go broke, then give them the finger. Ronald Reagan broke the Soviet economy, he didn't have to go to war. Our current president has the lowest approval rating, even worse than Nixon during the impeachment. The war was started with misinformation, lies and deceit. Where are the WMD's? We should know, George Bush's father sold them to Iraq. Our current president was in the oil business with Bin Laden. We have a private army (Blackwater) not constrained by conventional laws and treaties. Why, so they can do our dirty work and no problems for the administration. We have given no bid, open ended contracts to rebuild the Iraqi infrastructure that we blew up!! Those contracts went to companies like Haliburton. Cheney was a principal in Haliburton and his ownership is in a blind trust now. That doesn't mean he aint gonna be richer than god when this is all over. Waste, corruption, and shadt dealings are rampant. Housing, Healthcare, Jobs, education, are all in the toilet. Sorry for the rant, but it pisses me off when more people vote for American Idol than in a presidential election then B I T C H about our government. WE do need to change how our country does business! |

Re: DEMOCRAT VS REPUBLICAN
The next election:
You Democrats are going to be very pleased with yourselves at the presidential election because the American public is so ignorant about who is running that they are going to vote for who they can remember their names of. You Republicans are going to be up in arms as to why the Democrats won. The truth of the matter is, the general public has no concept as to who should lead this country to prosperity and the Electoral College is as useful as the public vote. It amazed me when Clinton won the election over Bush, however this was due (in no small part) to Dan Rather declaring Clinton the winner 2 hours before the polls closed. Thanks to the news media telling us how to think we can predict who, what, when, where and how the outcome will be. Over hearing conversations from registered voters like “I won’t vote for Bush in this next election” or “I wish Arnold Schwarzenegger would run, cause I’d vote for him” drives me insane (neither are eligible). Our Mexican and Canadian neighbors most likely have more voting sense than our legal citizens. This all began in our school system, actually much longer ago than that. The Social Security System has ramifications as to being un-American and rightly so (I for one hope to benefit from a small portion I have contributed, however very doubtful). Amazingly the last election was not for the best or most qualified but against the most hurtful. This election shows even worst qualifications across the board. Whatever your convictions are, stick to them. If your not sure, don’t pollute the decision with stupidity or popularity of the candidate. We as a country have done amazingly well over our 230 plus years in existence. It would be a shame to go the way of the Dodo or USSR after all this struggle. |

Re: DEMOCRAT VS REPUBLICAN
Don't get me started on that.
Our preacher tried for 9 months to talk us out of marriage, "your Catholic and she's Baptist, the odds are against ya'll". 25 plus years, she still ain't killed me. Having been to Lutherian, Prespaterian, Methodist, Jehoviah Witness, Baptist, educated and baptised Catholic and several offshootes of each religion, I've come to the conclusion they are all crazy. The person dosen't make god, God makes the person. (Sorry, shooting for a buffet here) |

Re: DEMOCRAT VS REPUBLICAN
Just two cents from the Peoples Republic of NJ. I am living in a state where the liberal way of thought has pervailed for two decades and the results are disgusting, criminal immoral and as anti American as you can get. Putting someone like the leadership of Democratic Party in charge nationally will be akin to suicide. It will make the horrors we are living here in Jersey shrink in comparison. When your top candidates are controlled by a foreign billionaire socialist you are talking serious decay in our great nation.
As much as I love you Puhbah and agree we don't have leadership our people deserve, we most certainly got the lesser of the two evils in the last election. Which in itself is a sad statement. In comment to your points I would like to make some remarks I hope you can think about. Our country entered into a fast developing world economy, not wanting to be a industrial society anymore but looking to some form of loftier goal of being a service oriented society, and we have. I don't like it, never did but it is what it is with the election and reelection of the politicians that stated repeatedly that is what they would do. In a world market economy the industrail sector especially has to be competitive and for many reasons, mostly our standard of living we are not competitve with other countries, and not just the third world ones either. Oil is 3 bucks a gallon, you are right. It was three bucks a gallon in 1976-77 in Europe when I was stationed there. It is a lot higher now. We have been spoiled for decades. In Europe you can get cheap, clean and effecient public transportation to go anywhere you need to go. Very few people need to drive a car far, or at all to go to work. This country has chosen a way of life in which the car has become the number one mode in spite of the costs and if gas doubled tommorow we still would not want to change it. To blame that on Bush or republicans or the Iraq war or tax cuts or any of the other fodder that has been thrown out by the Hilliary or any of the other Socialist party members is just drinking kool aide. We are not at war in the middle east because of oil. Oil is a important component in why that part of the world is so vital for the world economy. We are at war because there is a very strong facist movement that calls itself Islam that has decided that us westerners should lie at there feet like dogs or die, or both. It is rising to power rapidly because of the fear it reigns on its own people and the money it controls. In the 1940's people all over Europe watched another very similar facist movement come to power and and dominate a vital part of the world and its economy and people very similar to what we have in the dem party now, like Neville Chamberlin wanted to talk and talk and pacify them into cooperation and in the end it cost the world millions of lives, a lot of them our fathers and uncles. Iraq was one of those facist based powers and it was already in violation of the united nations resolutions over and over and defied all. They had wmd's and everyone knew it. especially the french who was supplying him. He had weeks to move his evidence to ground or to syria or wherever because our friends the soviets leaked all the satelite intel to him about our planned operations. Regardless of this the main reason we are there is to establish a beach head against a rising, destabilizing tide of terrorism bankrolled by him and Iran and Saudi Arabia. A tide that brought out the horror that became the burning towers in New York. Hilliary is totally incapable of dealing with what our world will soon be facing, she is a focus group politician and shares a lot of similarity with the previously mentiond Mr. Chamberlin. Our troubles will increase exponentially with a leader like her. You cited Ronald Reagans accomplishments with the soviets, and you are correct but you must state the whole of the story. Reagan was a strong leader of deep moral convictions and a profound sense of history. He also grew up during the aforementioned horrors of the world and knew we had to be strong and prepared to fight till the death, take premptive action if needed, and he prepared our troops to do it. He spent many billions of dollars that the dems fought him on tooth and nail to do it and he was villified in the liberal press as a war mongerer with rumors of military contracts and corporate connections flying all in an effort to derail him. Yes, he is known now as a great president, his accomplishments speak for themselves. The problem is they were wrong and he was right. I hope we have a choice for a smarter leader in the next election. I am afraid we will again have to pick the lesser of two evils. But I d@mn sure am not going to put a devout socialist in power or the party who at one time had many great leaders but now is riddled with left wing leadership there with her. We just cannot afford to leave the important decisions that will be coming in the next four years to people like that, we owe it to our kids not to do that. We owe it to our country not to do that. |

I think what I should do Mr. Puhbah is come down there, crack open the stash and you and I sit and talk about it for awhile, maybe on a nice yellow CC with a cigar in one hand a fishing rod in the other and ice in the cooler.
And some pie waiting at home when I carry your tired drunk a$$ thru the door ;D ;D ;D |
Re: DEMOCRAT VS REPUBLICAN
franco:
i hear you and i could,nt agree with you more, the problem, the way i see it, is that the manufacturing going away and the jobs going oveseas it's been going on for years, republican or democrats in power, this country is going away from the mom and pop operation and those are who pay more taxes, big corporations don't (in proportion), we are going away from buying raw materials and turnig them into manufactured goods, and that's what creates jobs and makes the money. But on the other hand, I vote every time i got the chance because I know what that is worth, most of the peole dont, and they have to realize that politics is like the time, wether you have a watch or not, time goes on, if you don't get involve in politics others will make the choice for you. As for the next election I dont think either is the solution, but I will vote. i just came from Brazil and all the cars are small, and work either with natural gas or ethanol and they work perfect. The problem here is that the people that tell us that WE have to save fuel while they ride in Hummers and private planes. Lesterus |

Everytime I look at the news, I'm hopin' for the lead story to be W bein' escorted from the White House by two armed U. S. Marines...as the story progresses he's taken to prison where he awaits facing charges of defrauding the American people, misuse of executive power and treason against the government of the United States...that'll be a good day for me...
...and guys...they WANT all of us to follow one party or another like a bunch of SHEEP...that way our attention is diverted from what's REELY goin' on behind the curtain that they don't want you to see ... we gotta start thinkin' for ourselves (and our children) and stop allowin' the D & R politicians who are ruining this great country of ours so they can get individually wealthy beyond measure ... follow the money-trail...it leads right to the heart of all the problems these greedy SOBs have brought to our doorsteps... ...and Lesterus...we're beechin' about the very SOBs who've left your favorite SOB in power all these years... OK...I'm done for a minute or two... ;) ... |

I agree that the Government is out of whack.
The trouble is, no regular, independant people can get elected to office because it takes millions of dollars to get elected to any real level of office and you either have to be rich to start with (ie: out of touch with the real world), or take money from people to get there (ie: corrupt, whether you mean to be or not). To change this country, WE all are going to have to make sacrifices, be it buying stuff made here and paying double for it, or switching to other fuels to get around, it will take sacrifice, and we all know that as Americans as a whole, we aint givin up nuthin! |
