Re: Paint removal I had some painting on my old boat and I used Laquir Thinner on it. Worked good getting the paint off but there was always a stain in that area. Not to bad but, you always new something was there. I have heard that after you remove it you can sand the hull with like 600 or 800 grit paper to get rid of stain and finish it off with a good waxing? Let me no how you make out. I want to remove all the bottom paint off my boat!! I was reading a thread on the Hull Truth of a guy who did it and it looks Great but lots of work!! |

Re: Paint removal Why can't you use acetone, then rewax? |
|
Re: Paint removal I used lacquer thinner on the Shark tonight. *It does work with a little elbow grease. *After I get both sides cleaned of the paint I'll rub it out and wax. *Bill Mc ;D |

Re: Paint removal Great! Did it leave a stain?? Might be able to buff it out? |
|
Re: Paint removal I have not removed the entire shark yet. It does not appear to be stained but sort of like what other people have said they get when they remove letters. I won't be back to the boat til after Easter. I finish the job, post pictures and let you know about the whole experience. Bill Mc |

Re: Paint removal Is there any reason that you can not use acetone? ??? |
|
Re: Paint removal Acetone will work but it evaporates too quick. Bill Mc |

Re: Paint removal I got both Sharks removed today. *I tried acetone but it was too quick. *I used lacquer thinner and a pot scrubber. *There was no staining. *It looks just like when you remove lettering. |
