More progress
A lot has been done over the last 2 days and I am one whooped puppy. But I can Finally say that I am ready to get my motor remounted ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. I am going to make several post tonight with some pics. The Electrical system is up and running. I even got all the lights working :). The fuel system is complete. Here are some pics of the new gas cap. First the old and ugly
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207062.jpg I had a custom flange machined to account for the different screw hole pattern. It's made from 304 CRES. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207068.jpg Then I was able to install the new and pretty http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207071.jpg http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207064.jpg http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207063.jpg It even came with a custom gas cap wrench ;D http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207072.jpg |

Re: More progress
You know what they say " when you got it (or can get it) flaunt it. ;D ;D I am just lucky that I have some talented friends that are helping me out. I also am lucky that I have you guys on this site to help me out when I need it. :) :) :) :) :) By the way I owe some people a few fishing trips and with the gas prices going up like they are :( that aint gonna be cheap :(.
|
Re: More progress
You think the prices are bad now, we going to be $3.50 soon and I feel bad for the poor guys that are sliped and have to pay Dock Side prices!!
|
Re: More progress
Lovely 2c, lovely.
|
Re: More progress
Good work, 2nd Chance!!...CLEAN!!... 8) ...
|
Re: More progress
NICE!! Too bad you coulda had a half a tank of fuel for the price of that cap! :D
|
Re: More progress
Is it healthy for me to have gas cap envy?
That is one nice setup!!! |
Re: More progress
Looks nice. Take and drill a hole in that cap remover and attach a key float so she can swim if it decides to go over board.
|
Re: More progress
I don't think a key float will work on that item. It's made from solid CRES ;D and does have a little weight to it.
|
Re: More progress
My wife is trying to find a cap for my gas hole but I all ways keep blowing it out. :o
Nice looking cap 2 chance. |
Re: More progress
My wife always wants to put a cork in it,
she just does not appreciate the benefits of metal. ;) |
Re: More progress
Yeah I was thinking a key float aint gonna hold it. Tie a milk jug to it. You wont loose it then. ;D

Re: More progress
If it goes overboard I can jump out of the boat and pick it up off of the parking lot. ;D I don't fill up at a marina.

Re: More progress
I finally got my controls thru the transom

Mean while I can do some other projects that will get me closer to being ready to fish. |
Re: More progress

Re: More progress
I thought I would keep the same post going on my progress. I got both seats installed.
This is the one that came with the boat, still needs to be reapolstered http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...t2207086-1.jpg This is the helm seat from the Renkin http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...t2207085-1.jpg I started the cuddy floor replcement. Fisrt I cut the plywood to size and glassed the back side. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...t2207084-1.jpg I epoxied it in place http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207088.jpg I need to glass it in place and glass the top side then paint it all. |
Re: More progress
I also got started again on my jigsaw puzzle AKA cabin door. I glued up the final peices, sanded, and put one coat of Teak oil on. I'm planning on 3 coats of oil.
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207092.jpg http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207093.jpg I still need to pull all the rest of it off the V so it can be cleaned and oiled. I'm debating polyurethane. |
Re: More progress
looks good
on your cabin deck replacement, were the side "bunks" out as well? mine is an 83 and the whole cabin is a drop in liner. are you going back with mechanical steering? you control tubes look to be set up for hydraulic. |
Re: More progress
Phatdaddy, I'm going with a Baystar Hydraulic steering system, thats why the wheel is missing. As far as the cabin goes the only thing I've done is to replace the floor. I am going to remove the white fur from the bulkheads on both sides of the cabin door to make it easier to mount different items that I want in there.
