Converted my "livewell" into storage
It was quit an operation but I was able to complete with inspiration from all the V-20 do it yersefers out there.
Now I can keep all my ropes, anchors, fenders and the like in there. I'm thinking about using the pump as a spare bilge pump. Before http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...101_0063-5.jpg After http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...101_0064-5.jpg |
Re: Converted my "livewell" into storage
I think I put a dab of marine tex or formula 27 into those screw holes if ther is any wood behind the old live well. Just my 2 pennies.

Re: Converted my "livewell" into storage
Always great for extra space, but, what I hate is that everything will get wet and dirty in there its not water proof!
All the sand and crap from the floor will get in there! But if your happy I am happy! ;D I would use it as a fish box, if big enough? For the screw holes, ream them out a little and use some resin to fill and seal. |
Re: Converted my "livewell" into storage
I bought a plastic container to keep the ropes dry and clean......plus my V came with a door mat to keep all of the sand out.

Re: Converted my "livewell" into storage
I want to convert my storage into a livewell.

Re: Converted my "livewell" into
I used my livewell (exactly like yours) as a storage area because the livewell didn't work very well. (more like a dead well) The problem with using it as a storage well is if you want to keep whatever you are storing dry, it will get wet. You don't want lines etc. in there. I kept a small Danforth anchor and some fenders in there. Anchor line and lines to fenders were always wet and stinky.
Now i use the well to contain a 24 gallon permanent auxiliary fuel tank which fits exactly. (Tempo plastic) V's total fuel capacity is now 84 gallons. Baltimore Canyon here I come!! (when the weather is perfect, Seatow paid up, and when I can go with a another boat or boats) Geek |

I got a tub to keep em dry. ;D And I had thought about putting a spare tank in there too, but have decided to just get a bigger main tank. *(mine is 28 gal right now, looking for a 40+). http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...101_0068-4.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...101_0069-4.jpg |

Re: Converted my "livewell" into storage
Mine is currently being used to house the auto-oiler. Thats being moved elsewhere this weekend and the well is going back to becomming a fish box. The water temp here is ~ 50-51 degrees usually so we keep the snapper and salmon bathed with sea water and the meat stays in great shape without ice.

Yikes.......I haven't had it slam shut yet, but I have stepped into it when I forgot it was open.......and this was on the trailer, I close it again right away on the water.
