net holder
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...P1010006-2.jpg
I store my fishing net on the bow with the pass through open. *I'm looking for ideas on changing its placement. *Thanks Billy Mac *;D |
Re: net holder
Sometimes mine is there, in the cuddy, or mostly...I keep mine between the port side seat and the gunnel. Looks like you have a back to back seat...put the net end up front and let the handle lay in the floor.

Re: net holder
I installed a rod holder on the back brace for the canvas top and stick the net in that, mine doesn't get in the way.

Re: net holder
Check over on the WET thread, maybe one of them will hold your net for ya ;D
|
Re: net holder
Too many choices. I do like that place that would hold it though. Billy Mac ;D

I like garage's idea. How bout some pics garageman? :D I'm really diggin that, but I don't know how that would jive with my back enclosure curtain. Which reminds me I need some mods to my side windows because right now they won't stay snapped without the back curtain in. I need straps sewn in. Oh well another day and another thread maybe. Sorry for the sidetrack ;D |
Re: net holder
I just installed a rod holder for it always worked great.
|
Re: net holder
that dam net always gets in my way too :-/ I put mine in an empty rod holder if I got one if not we walk all over it >:(
|
Re: net holder
CY, what you carry a net for anyway? ;D
Sorry, it was too easy ;D |
Re: net holder
I stick the net up the @ss of the first person to disobey captains orders....that keeps it out of the way for a while. ;D Or another thing to guarantee it stays out of the way it to simply drop it overboard or leave it at the dock. ;D I guarantee the above to be effective unobtrusive net storage techniques. ;D

Re: net holder
The net usually gets stuck on the port side (to be out of my way) near the seat of the passenger. ;D
Another good place is along the windshield sides (someone has to be the point man). ::) |

Re: net holder
Start catching fish big enough to gaff and leave the net @ home. ;)

Re: net holder
You know I got to thinking about spearfishermen and was planning on making some kind of joke to Hammer on where he stores his net while diving.
I thought about - what if spearfishermen decided to go catch and release. The speargun could hurl a big net at the fish, then a couple of quick pix with the underwater camera and off to the next fish. Kinda seems crazy doesn't it? |
Re: net holder
Uh hu hu hu....that would be cool.
|
Re: net holder
Next chance I get when I put the top on and get the camera away from the main muff I'll take a pic and post.

Re: net holder

Re: net holder
I gaff all striper I'm planning to keep, but not in the body - in the bottom lip. The main reason I don't gaff in the body is because I don't like getting the boat bloody b/c that means using the washdown more and when its cold I do NOT like using the washdown!
I do gaff a realeased fish. *For those I grab them by the lower lip and gill plate, remove the hook and send them on their way. My wife caught this 30lber (her first) 2 winters ago on our anniversary trip at Oregon Inlet NC: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...y/S2010054.jpg |
Re: net holder
hey still
it's only illegal to gaff stripers in SOME states, Carolina ain't 1 of them, Virginia is one. garage |
Re: net holder
I'm not too sure if its just here or everywhere but here in florida you cant even pull a oversize fish out of the water! :o you have to leave it in the water and get the hook out. Mainly aimed at the idiots holding the goliath grouper for a picture.

Re: net holder
mac I think if we tried to gaff a walleye we pull his gills right off
|
Re: net holder
That we would! Billy Mac ;D
|
Re: net holder
We go out with at least 2 or 3 other boats. *Some use nets and some gaffs. *I think the gaffers lose less fish. *My friend with the net lost 3 in a row right beside the boat last trip.
When they come up green it can be hard to get a big fish in the net. Plus if you are trolling w/ trebles it can make a gnarly mess in the net and cost you fishing time during a hot bite. |
Re: net holder
My old 77s got rod holders under the gunnels, between the saddle tanks and the cabin. Thats where I keep my net. Havent caught anything big enough ta use it yet, my day will come soon I hope!
|
Re: net holder
I never use a net for Stripers or many fish at all, but when a nice 10 pound Fluke comes to the boat you bet the net is under it!!
I am going to have my new Bimi built in January, I am going to make sure the guy uses heavy SS for the frame, I am then going to get 2 clamp on Tulip holders and clamp to the frame, one for the net and one for the gaff, or what ever ;) |
