Re: dual console model
Llabi...I gotta dual console...I've noticed them refered to as cuddies, also...of the 4 boats shown in the gallery, 3 are dualies(cuddies)...walk-thru windshield, sliding bow hatch cover
Sanny Claws gave my dear wife a digital camera, so I'll be posting pics of REELAPEELIN' soon...soon as I figger out all this gall-darn-new-fangled-gizmo stuff |
Re: dual console model
RAP, the dual consoles are really more like a bowrider where there isn't any cuddy cabin in front of the walkthrough windshield.

Re: dual console model
Very difficult to tell in this photo, but you can clearly see the smaller walkthrough windshield.

Re: dual console model
RAP , They only made them for a couple of years . I think that it was the late 80's or early 90's . I have seen a couple listed for sale , but not one on the water yet.

Re: dual console model
Every boat design is a compromise of features. The dual console is supposed to be a mix of the benifits of a center console where you have much open access, especially to the bow, but also the protection of a full windshield. IMO, the windshield on the Wellcraft Dual Console is not big enough. It does, however offer the framework to add an enclosure like Seakindly's Steplift with easy access to the bow area. But again, you loose the benifits of a cuddy cabin, and you loose the benifits of an open boat.
It's all about tradeoffs and what works best for the individual boat owner. My previous boat was a walkaround cuddy, of which I think is the closest to giving the best of both worlds. There are a few downside to that as well though. |
Re: dual console model
I'll stick with my cuddy cabin. :)

Re: dual console model
I have not seen one in person either, but the layout sure looks good for fishing.

Re: dual console model
Jaysea and I saw one when we went to look at a beat up 76 V20, last July. I was not impressed with it.
I remember Jaysea commenting that the freeboard/decks were lower than his 85 steplift cuddy. |
