TIE-DOWN BRAKES SUCK!

somebody's gonna say "I told you so", but I already had 'em by the time you said it...retro-fitted tandem trailer w/Tie-Down's disc brakes AND model 6000 actuator several years back...I've worked on these things and replaced parts till ALL the cows got home and they're still not worth a POOP!

Anybody thinkin' about brakes...DON'T GO TIE-DOWN!!!

They got SQUAT for technical help.

I'd forget about trailer brakes too, except that tow vehicle's brake rotors warp slowin' down additional weight...gives me the ji-ji- jiggles...

Actually tow truck is f-150 lariat crew(before all the chevy/gmc fanatics jump outta the woodwork, towing did the same thing to the chevy truck i used to have, and i'm SURE a dodge would never warp a rotor)...i just want to get the brakes i got and have paid for fixed and it seems tie-down could care less!

Well I use to own a full size Dodge Van and the rotors always warped!! They have the worse brakes of them all!!
I have a full size Chevy Blazer and I have never had to change the rotors! I have been towing this boat for 5 years with this truck and always fine.
But that said you should never tow something heavyer then the vechile your towing with. IMO
My blazer is a little over 6000 pounds! The boat fully loaded around 4000 pounds.

Well any who good luck with your brakes!!

Get yourself some aftermarket drilled rotors. They'll dissipate the heat and won't warp like factory equipment. Easy to install yourself too. I finally went this way with both my wife's and daughter's Grand Cherokee's after a few sets of factory rotors. Haven't had a problem since. ;)

Hey Chumbucket...that's what I've been lookin' for...any ideas on who makes a good set of drilled rotors and where I can get 'em?....

I think on my F-150(2001) it's a hub/rotor combo, so I don't expect cheap, plus discs on all four wheels...maybe I can get away with replacing front only
