Bass Pro Shops

I went in my first Bass Pro Shops today in Concorde Mills outside Charlotte, NC. It was pretty impressive and very well stocked. A fishing enthusiast could easily spend a lot of time there browsing. They even had Makos and a 23' Sea Craft outside among all the bass boats for viewing. The Sea Craft's (approx $60k w/225 Opti and trailer) forward casting deck is awesome. The new Mako 215 walkaround (about $52k w/top, Opti and trailer) was there too, very smart layout I thought. All the other Mako CCs had Verados on them. Prices for all the tackle and electronics I saw looked good. We don't have any such stores in CT, but I hear one might be coming to NJ in the future? Fingers crossed as it sure beats WalMart.

I've been in that store. Very nice. They've got everything and then some that the catalogs have. There's one in upstate NY (Auburn I believe) and one in Harrisburg, PA.

There is also one in Hampton Va. I will be spending some time in that store in May when I will be down in Norfolk for two weeks.

BPS ROCKS!! I'm so lucky that its only a 30 minute ride to the one in Concord NC!!

That's where I bought lots of goodies for my old girl, including electronics!

CT, did you see the freshwater aquarium in the back? They got some 20lb stripers in there!! Big crappie, bass, bream, etc.

Cood store indeed :-*

I did see the stripers in the tank. And I drooled over some of the electronics too, especially color sounders and GPS by Lowrance ($700+). That was my first real trip to Charlotte, looks like a nice place to live to me.

Re: Bass Pro Shops

Live ten minutes from the Bass pro shop in Harrisburg Pa and it is impressive a real candy store and have spent a few bucks there but would like to remind all that the real life blood of the sport is the local tackle shop. Aside from the fact that the local guy needs to make a living its important to recognize that these folks have indepth local knowledge and a well developed network of information. A lot of the success of this sport
involves knowledge and for the most part these guys are often the clearing board. If ya spend a few bucks on a regular basis at a local shop you can bet the owne will be more willing to be helpful. Ask the clerk at Bass Pro where the hot bite is! I charter in Md and Va and have worked hard at building a network and its paid off.

I've been to the Bass Pro Shop/Outdoor Worlds in Maryland, Virginia, and the big one in Ft. Lauderdale. The Lauderdale is the biggest. And you have to go to the International Fishing Hall of Fame next door!!! Now that place is cool!! Talk about Dizzyworld!!! Try the interactive (simulated) Tarpon fishing was fun.
