New Dash Panel w/ Electronics -PICS

I made a new dash panel out of starboard. Its all RAP's fault ;D

I originally removed the teak around the gague panel and made a frame out of starboard. It was okay, but I didnt like the electronics mounted on the plastic brackets. After measuring, I figured I could rearrange the gagues, cut the fiberglass opening in the helm, and have enough room to flush mount the electronics.

Very nice! 8)

I'd love to flush mount for the security benefits and it just looks like a nice clean install, but when I drift fish, I need to see the finder from anywhere on the boat, particularly at the transom.

Thanks. I needed something to do today in the rain anyway!

The biggest P.I.A. was the wiring of the gagues. I also had to hog out the thickness of the area where the switches are with the router. They wouldnt fit otherwise.

I was suprised how much room there is in the helm after you cut back some of the fiberglass. I could have arranged for a much larger display if I had one. :D

Great Job! Wellcraft could learn alot from you. Where did you get the guages?

Smoking! Just to be certain, you kept the water pressure gauge right?

Yeah, I kept the water pressure gauge. It doesnt work though. I plan on picking up a new one. Do I need it?

Very Nice, is that much of a job? I would like to rewire my dash.

Are most of ya'll running water pressure guages?

My Force 150 did not have a pressure gauge or a pee hole. I added a pee hole no pressure guage. Bill Mc ;D

I like the gauge because I can't see the pee stream from the helm with the bracket. Even with the gauge I find myself back there looking frequently when I'm not up on a plane. While we're on the topic, my trim gauge doesn't work, do I need IT?

mine trim gage no work eaither :'( I want it cause it has one, I am the kind of guy that wants it cause it is there and i like everything to work!! But I have never had one in 12 years of boating!!

My trim gauge works fine but I dont think I'll need it.
You trim the hull by feel and how its riding, not the gauge, IMO.

The water pressure gauge will let you know if you sucked up a plastic bag , weeds etc before you overheat the engine. I always thought the pee indicator was all I really needed?

CT is probably right - I'll have a hard time seeing the stream with the bracket. The engine manual says a water presure gauge was an option. It also says that if there is restricted water flow for any reason, that the engine will automatically drop RPMs below 2500 until the obstruction is cleared. (1999 Johnson) Then I'm sure the high temp alarm goes off and I shut it down and do some cussin. ;D

VEEDER - The gauges I believe are original from the old sea drive that was on the boat. The Tach is actually from an Angler boat. It was the original tach for the engine, it just says Angler on it. Its an electronic tach with idiot lights for temp, oil, check engine etc.
