a bracket for a danforth is easy to construct with starboard and bungee, then put it where ever you want it

OK tHIS IS MY PROBLEM.i LIKE TO CARRY A SPARE ANCHOR ON BOARD BUT I DONT KNOW WHERE TO STORE IT,SOUNDS STUPID,DOESNT IT BUT I ONLY HAVE THE ANCHOR LOCKER UNDER THE HATCH AND DONT WANT TO PUT THEM INTHE STORAGE UNDER THE DECK BECAUSE IT WOULD BE IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE HULL, SO ANY SUGGESTIONS

steplift...you could put a "mat" of some sort in bottom of hatch or construct the anchor bracket and attach to back of transom(attach well)...outta the way...easy to reach...do you carry two ropes as well?...

I'vs seen folks attach a piece of pcv pipe to one of the bow rails posts (vertically) and drop the anchor in and secure it with a bungee cord. Mostly on wreck anchors, but if you got the right diameter pipe it should be fine.

I have an anchor stored on the port inboard side of the boat behind the lounge with a basic danforth mount. It's out of the way and easily accessible. The anchor line and chain store under the seat.

I have 500 feet of 3/8 inh line, so if i lose 200 feet i still have 300 left,plus i carry a spare chain and shackle

i have a pvc pipe attach to the rail and have a wreck anchor in it . i like toi keep my deck clean of clutter because when the fishing gets hot all hell breaks loose
right now i have the anchoe stored in the cabin but its not secured to anything and i know once i start to go out it will be all over the place. one thing bad about the steplift is that they dont have to much storage spaced,

There's a story here, & I have time to tell.

My father-in-law and I were going out fishing and get out to the jetties and the wind is just howling. We stop short of the end to decide what we want to do. As I'm idling, both engines die, one right after the other. Widgida-widgida-widgida is all I get out of the engines. Neither one is starting and I'm get stressed real quick since the 25mph wind is sending us right toward the jetty rocks. We gotta get the hook out and stop this trend. At the time, just one anchor was mounted; no big deal there, but the brand new anchor rope that came out of the forward hatch in the cuddy was a rats nest. Ever try to pay out a line in a hurry when it's in one big knot? It sux, let me tell you. I ended up de-tangling the line in time and we got the hook to the bottom before the rocks got to us. Then the engines started right up. I'm guessing I flooded them in a hurry to restart them. A bit later, when we anchored at the boat cut in the north jetty, with the ripping current and good wind, we had a difficult time setting the anchor. To fix all that stressfullness, I put the larger anchor on board and installed the deck pipe so the rode will pay out as needed from now on. That cover will be of teak since the 'test piece' seems to work pretty good.

And on that cover...MJ's probably thinkin' Starboard and I guarantee I'm thinkin' Starboard...like the sleave thru the deck...find that ona shelf somewhere...looks familiar... :)...is that a thru-gunwale sleave for an inboard cleat?...

I really don't know, just heard it called a 'deck pipe'. (years ago)Before we (family business) got into big generators (progressed from marine generators) we were a marine supply store. There was a lot of junk left over from a moving sale that's slowly being depleted to other uses. Of course I went through those few boxes and retrieved whatever I thought might be valuable. The deck pipe was in there. I like it. It works. I know the West Marine/Boat US/et.al. have round deck pipes with caps on them for just such a use. But I like mine. ;D

It's called a Hawse Pipe or Hawse Plate. Typically used for inboard cleats to be mounted below.

On larger boats, with a chain anchor rode and a deck mounted windlass, the pipe, that leads from the water to the deck is a hawse pipe the chain then goes around the windlass and through the"chain pipe" into the chain locker....every time somebody posts a pic on here it goes into the "can I use that one my boat" file. Thanks for the ideas

Mine use to be like Havis, for 5 years never had a problem!!

I don't have a pic :-[ But I keep my rope in the forward cabin coiled nice in a bucket, so it will feed out nice.
Once it is pulled out it stays out all day then I recoil at the end of the day back it the bucket.

I to have to carry a 2nd and I am not sure were yet?? But I have more Starboard!!! ;D
