skools, thanks for the thread... a bit off topic but some decent feedback anyway. i still dont know the answer to the question but i do know that if you drink and boat on the cape they take your license. i also know that if you power load dont do it at 30 mph.

Re: BUNKS OR ROLLERS?

Good question.......I'm wondering why bunks are preferred in the South and rollers for the North???

Re: BUNKS OR ROLLERS?

I have rollers and have no issues with them except the cost of replacing them each as they fall off and loosing them. ;D

Re: BUNKS OR ROLLERS?

Rollers are easier to load but for me that is the only benefit. Bunks are all I use.

I spray a little silicone on the home depot carpet and she flies on and off.

Re: BUNKS OR ROLLERS?

When I lived in FL I had a bunk for my 17 whaler. I literally never had the winch cable out more than a foot! Easiest boat ever to launch and load. I'd power load it right to the stop evrytime, leave it gear, reach over the bow, hook up cable, crank about a turn and half, shut off engine, done.

Launching was just as easy, just like someone stated above: Find the sweet spot on your trailer fender, mine was 3-4". I had an eye on my bowline, maybe 8', loop it over post for the winch, tap the brakes when your fender hits that spot, slides right off. If I moved quick, I could get out of the truck and grab the bowline before it got taught, if not the boat would spring back lightly toward the trailer.

I was wondering why it seems that most people go with rollers in the North??? Also, seems like a lot more galvanized than aluminum in the north and vice-versa for the south.

Re: BUNKS OR ROLLERS?

I don't want the maintenance of rollers...that's most of what I hear about 'em...and I don't hear that many advantages of havin' rollers...

Re: BUNKS OR ROLLERS?

none they black up your boat too so if you like a clean boat buy bunks if you like black marks and replacing rollers and pins then buy rollers.
