A Good Deal ???
Even though I came home empty handed from the boat store today, I did meet a guy who does custom tee tops and other alum. work. We spoke for abit and found out that he is a diver as well. So he is interested in doing work on my boat in return for my underwater Dacor scooter, ....some of my 007 diving toys ;D .
Now I paid $1700.00 for my underwater scooter. Whats the cost of a hard top ???, about the same ?? |
Re: A Good Deal ???
yeah you can get one for that
|
Re: A Good Deal ???
Sounds good, but LOOK at some of his work B4 you ''seal the deal''...you know he's gettin' a good scoooter...what are you gettin'??.... ;)...

Re: A Good Deal ???
yea make sure up front that what you want is what you getting!! Is it going to be SS or Aluminum, and make sure the aluminum is good stuff!!
Like reep said look at his work!! Just because the guy can weld don't mean he can do it good!! These things take a beaten and them welds can crack on a good build let alone a bad one. but the price is in the ball park!! Good Luck!! And we want Pictures!! |
Re: A Good Deal ???
I heard of this guys name more then once at the local boat yard and even the boat stores. Young kid as well. Seen his work and this boy can lay a nice weld. So a trade might be in the dealings for a tee top. Maybe. I already have the bim top and really only need the front, sides and back, but that can be costly as well since its all custom work.
He use's all alum. and charges $65.00 an hour plus material. So depending on the amount of hours involved, I might have him build one of two rear swim/dive platforms instead of going with wooden teak platforms along with a nice boarding rail to hold onto when stepping off teh platform and up over the stern. Need something to balence yourself with all that dive gear on. |
Re: A Good Deal ???
As yo can see in the pictures. I hump alot of gear on my back. Need a strong dive platform.

Airslot.
This kid is good. He worked for Lewes Tee-Tops, but quit and started his own business. Seen alot of his work and impressed. Nice stuff. He is just out side of Lewes on Rt. 9 going towards georgetown. Actually he his at the intersection of rt.9 and rt. 30. About 11 miles from Lewes, De. |
Re: A Good Deal ???
Airslot, here is a copy of his brosure.

Re: A Good Deal ???
In the brosure you will see the V-20. Thats Nate's boat. He just paid two thousand for it, and of course, he put his own top on it.

Re: A Good Deal ???
hammer, wouldn't one of these style ladder be better for using with fins on?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v206/Mnutz/f7_1_b.jpg pic is from ebay here's one from Boatersworld: http://www.boatersworld.com/webapp/w...atalogId=10051 |
Re: A Good Deal ???
Yepper. I have the same one. I simply want to mount the X-Mas tree ladder to the underside of a strong swim platform. That ladder there is rated to 400 pounds. That will support my dive gear and me with no bending.
|
Re: A Good Deal ???
Hammer, find yourself a ladder like Tin's showin' and a bracket like MJ's and you'll be all set!!...
Question...wouldn't it be easier to drop your BC w/tanks, float 'em till you're in the boat and then retrieve?... ;D... |

Re: A Good Deal ???
wrong cover MJ lol he ment the old I/O cover i think ;D
|
Re: A Good Deal ???
Ha Ha I guess I had a brain fart!!
The I/O cover has a 25 gal tank under it, Donated to the cause by none other then BS are leader!! I also keep a made by me 30 gal live well in there, when I need it I take it out and put on deck. also makes a great cut table and a nice place to sit and jig! I take a few people out with me all the time, and I held a Vote among all of us to see weather I should remove it or save it, as you can see keeping it was voted by all but me *:-[ *But I do like it. |
Re: A Good Deal ???
It sounds like the guy is pretty reasonable. I wonder what he charges for and arch, any idea. I know around here, your going to pay closer to $3000+ for a decent hardtop.
