Jersey New York PA Maryland Snaggers

Sorry I got delayed stating this post, a litle sore the past few days :-/
I'm not sure the time or distance some of you guys are from Jersey Shore area but I would like to start a list of guys that are within striking distance and see about putting something together for this fall, I would do earlier but I don't think I can handle a boat until then.
So you snaggers that are in the area post here and we can get a list together, see how many boats on trailers we got and plan something. I know there are a bunch of V20 guys in Jersey alone, not many are active on this site though, maybe we can change that.
And Tin and Phes I think this is close enough for you guys to, to do something in Raritan Bay area even if you launch from the Staten Island side, if not let me know

Willy, I'm 2 hours east of NYC, about 1.25 hrs. east of Phester. I consider it more New England than NY out here. I'm a lot closer to RI than NYC.

It's quite a ways to Jersey Shore , but hey. maybe phes and I can make the trip some time.............................................. .................................................. .............some SM's would surely entice us :) ;)

Two hrs ain't to bad Tin, how long would it take you to tow to Staten Island, I'm fishing along there all the time from where I launch at Atlantic Highlands, I can be at the Island in about 25 minutes. If you cross the island and go over the outer bridge crossing it puts you about 20 minutes from the Highlands. If we are going to do a weekend thing might not be too bad, I was thinking also about the opposite tow your way.

willy count ,e in i launch at atl highlands also but that 23 dollar fee is pissing me off i think there is another ramp down there but i have to find it and im not talking about leonardo

Re: Jersey New York PA Maryland Snaggers

Theres one at Keyport, it's smaller but if you are fishing that end of the bay it's a quicker run to Staten Island and the rest of that northern bay area, Leonardo is just for small boats and the guys there are mostly the tin boat crowd fishing shallow and near the Driscoll Bridge etc. It has a short ramp area and a very steep drop off, low tide unusable except as previouly mentioned by small boats. Where are you towing from?

Sign me up. I don't know if I'd trust my trailer to NJ from MD, but I have in-laws in Cliffwood Beach, so I get up that way a few times a year. The wife and I both grew up in Matawan so for me to drive up is no big deal.

Thats great Rick, spent many a high tide at Cliffwood Beach, thats how I did all my salt water fishing up to a few years ago, right off the surf and jetties.
I know there are a bunch more guys here in Maryland Jersey PA New York area.
We could have a nice little tourney if guys get on line and check it out

Yea willy, that's not too bad, thought you were further down the shore. Probably a bit over 3 hrs. from me to Highlands.

Towing a boat on the BQE and Outer Bridge Crossing is fun...NOT! :) :o

Re: Jersey New York PA Maryland Snaggers

I know Tin, one of the worst areas in the world to travel, never mind towing anything, but I have done it early in the morning and it's not bad then, only a few million people then ;D. I figure if we do one of the areas cheaper motels and do a three day weekend kind of thing it would be a fun time. Especially in the fall, all the party boys have gone home and the water is mostly guys like us fishing. September would be a good time in Raritan Bay. Big Fluke Big Stripes and God knows what else is running then. Throw in a SM or two or three and you got the makin's for some good times.

Think of it as quality rather than quantity

hey i am in ocean city, md, but i cant tow that far with my jeep wrangler. :-[ where on the shore are you? north, middle, south? I have friends in Sea Bright, is that close to you?

willy 07-07-2006 03:02 PM

Re: Jersey New York PA Maryland Snaggers

Sea Bright is south Jersey I believe, never been there. I go out of Atlantic Highlands, fish Raritan Bay. But like Palladin " Have Boat Will Travel "
For you younger guys you might have to ask that very extinguished , I mean distinguished gentleman Reelapeelin about that reference. I heard it from some more mature people around here. 8)

rb437 07-07-2006 08:35 PM

Re: Jersey New York PA Maryland Snaggers

I wouldn't call Sea Bright south Jersey. About 1/2 way between Long Branch and Sandy Hook. Not far at all from Atlantic Highlands.

willy 07-07-2006 09:53 PM

Re: Jersey New York PA Maryland Snaggers

I didn't know, does it have access to the ocean for boats?

willy 07-07-2006 09:56 PM

Re: Jersey New York PA Maryland Snaggers

Well how many guys would be interested in putting together a rendezvous for a weekend somewhere on the Jersey shore, north or south. If you are say whether you can get there with your boat or not.
I can tow pretty much anywhere in NJ. So 1 with boat to start it off ;)

I'm thinking in September some time.

Re: Jersey New York PA Maryland Snaggers

I haven't been there in years, so I couldn't tell you about the water access. I do remember a boat ramp a little farther south in Belmar on the Shark River.
