Retrailering 86 V20

Well i got this 1986 V20, *had it on Top Notch's trailer needed to get it off so i could put the 86 V20 *on number 2 trailer that i just bought for it. So i put a chain on the eyes on the rear of the boat secured it to a truck and pulled the trailer out from under it and it sat down right on these old tires i had. Perfect.

Now i had to load this boat on number 2 trailer and get it off the ground. So I pushed the trailer back into place. Put liquid soap all over the bunks. And started cranking the handle, the trailer is not connected to my tow vechicle and the trailer front went way up, just kept cranking. Was alittle worried about the eye coming out from the front of the boat and cutting my head off... Pulled the tires out of the way from under the boat when i had it on the trailer, and with alittle help from pushing it from the rear it went on... Sure do like it when it works the way you have it envisioned... *Z

Hey Z will you post some pics of how that jack was mounted into that aluminum trailer. Those trailers usually had a center jack but i like that style better.

Sandwich the wood with another plate of aluminum on the outside.

I was thinkin' the same thing ,Hammer, the blue/white braided rope insert of the rubrail looks familiar. Hull looks nice [exactly like mine, w/o that style rope] Good luck w/ her!

MJ, Scroll back up a little and see pic of trailer jack-stand...wood shims the j-s mounting plate out the depth of the side of the I-Beam on the trailer...if it's treated it oughtta be there for ever... ;) ...

Re: Retrailering 86 V20

Just wondering why you did not just put it in the water and do this - it is dangerous - ie the rope, cable or eye breaking

Re: Retrailering 86 V20

All boats don't float and all aren't near water to swap trailers lol. I load them dry alot not an issue. if the eye breaks then it needed fixing anyway look at my pics of the 21 project hanging by the transom eyes and bow eye. been hanging 2 1/2 days now.
