I've been holding out...

I made a little road trip down south and met TMcGovern. *He's a really great guy with a nice house a beautiful faimily I might add. *

Anyway some of you may remember a little while back when he posted a pic of his bench seat from his V20, well we made a deal and I drove down and picked it up. *My wife is thrilled - I like it because I can take it out or put it in depending on if I'm fishing or cruising. *Plus when I went fishing yesterday, we took it out and sat it on the floating dock. *It was like having a couch on the floater! *We are really getting some good use out of it as you can see. *It has a welded stainless steel frame. *I wrapped some vinyl around the legs to keep from scarring the deck. *Taped it on redneck style with that blue 3m masking tape *::) *Better than drilling holes in the deck *:o *Just thinking about that makes me wanna puke!

My sister and my daughter - I always thought they looked alike.

Thanks TMcGovern!

Re: I've been holding out...

Very nice, BR! Does that open up like a futon?

I guess with the cuddy there's no need for it to open. Looks like it's pretty comfy.

Re: I've been holding out...

PERPATRATEOR!!! you not a redneck, are ya? a redneck would have most definetly used SILVER DUCT TAPE. blue masking tape? oh yeah, ur from up north! thats a hill billy move if i ever saw one, lol!

Blue_Runner 09-25-2006 11:55 AM

Re: I've been holding out...

Nah, its permanently welded in that setup. Here's a shot of the back. The redneck bungee cord is the only thing holding it in place. I'm thinking of attaching in slightly different way in the near future. Will still involve bungees though.

Re: I've been holding out...

Great looking Family and nice seat there BR guess what i may have just bought what you want.

It's a Aluminum Crestliner V hull boat that i'm going to pick up today i hope, have not even seen it yet. The boat i was told is between 19 and 21 ft with trailer. will get pics soon. is that what you wanted for the lake?

Re: I've been holding out...

Well not exactly Skools. *I got my heart set on a 14 - 16ft flat bottom jon boat w/ trailer. *Something nice and small yet light enough for my 9.9 to push and go super shallow. * Also light enough to pull up on my floating dock at the lake.

Hammer come on down I'll take you for a ride, but you ain't gettin my seat!! I've gotten too many brownie points from the wife to let it slide that easy!

Thanks guys!

Re: I've been holding out...

Nice set-up. Nice lookin' folks. Bet the seat cuts down on motor noise too. I also like the fish mode w/o seat.
I'm anxious to repower my i/o to OB and build a futon style bench seat for all nighters. Problem is the 165 runs too well to justify the changerover.

Re: I've been holding out...

BR i had a friend call and said he found a boat told me what he could about it, i said buy it and i'll pay you when i pick it up. he was out of town and found it priced good according to him we'll see.

Hey Cy you could build something like this

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...21Boat-188.jpg

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...21Boat-190.jpg

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...21Boat-191.jpg

I'm going to pad them and cover them once i get the other seats so i can match them to the other interior they are lift out so you can use the space for fishing too.

Re: I've been holding out...

hey skools, i was thinking about somethingl like that, but i am not sure the motor cover could take the weight (I/O). and i have to get to the doors that access the batteries.

do you think the cover could handle the weight of an average 200 pounder sitting there.

not all of us have the luxury of carrying around 110 pound supermodes like Willy :-/

man. the freaks are taking over. i cant get away from them. i just left one thread thoroughly disgusted. now i come here and... my god, i think i am now officialy footophobic. sicko's. one more person pm me pics of feet and i'm gonna lose it! back to the boat seat...
looks good blue. i got an idea, you could cut two pieces of starboard that mount flush (peprpindicular) to the seat back. shape them so that they will hug ur splashwell and 'lock' the seat from sliding forward. you could make them fit beside ur fuel tank and run all the wat to the transom. in the splashwell make them level and just the right hieght to set a cooler on. couple of eye hooks and bungee down cooler! completely removable for trailering and two birds with one foot. stone, i mean stone!

racerx 09-25-2006 06:51 PM

Re: I've been holding out...

oh yeah, skoolz, dont forget to remove those seats before trailering. they look better in the boat than they do in my windshield!

Thanks Racerx, but I can't put anything too invasive in the splashwell or my motor will hit it when I tilt it up.

Believe me, I will forget and raise the motor and my hood will be cracked all the heck! ::)

Re: I've been holding out...

Why not just attach a piece of Starboard Permanently to the back of the seat with a couple of standoffs. The piece should be the same size and shape of the splashboard you currently have the rod holders on. When you slide the splashboard out to install the seat, the seat with Starboard attached will slide into the same tracks in it's place. That should keep the seat from sliding on you. You can also use pieces of pipe insulation on the base at the floor to prevent any marking of your deck. 8)

Are you awake already!!

Re: I've been holding out...

the seat and bracket will trailer fine. motor will be between the brackets. just remember to move the cooler.

Blue_Runner 09-26-2006 03:08 PM

Re: I've been holding out...

CB great ideas - one problem though. I need to be able to easily slide the seat forward out of the way in order to access the primer ball at startup. If it weren't for that I'd definitely go that route.

About the tracks you mentioned. I don't know if you noticed but those are stainless steel. From the factory they come in plastic, which I didn't trust for my rod holders sake. I had a guy make these out of stainless for me using the original as a model. They turned out great! I just need 2 more now to replace the crappy plastic tracks that the cuddy door slides on. You can see them here. Someone did some damage to one already and used some epoxy to fix.

My daughter Ella...see the plastic tracks? These were just like the ones that holds the piece of starboard in the spashwell:
