Factory Livewells
I have noticed that the later V's have built in livewells.
How well do they work? |

Re: Factory Livewells
Mine works pretty good. Has dual aerators, one on each side.

Re: Factory Livewells
BR's is set up great, but we don't hear good reviews here about the infloor baitwells ...hard to get to and water sloshes out of 'em ...
|
Re: Factory Livewells
BR has all the nice stuff, V-21, new Yami, nice Cherokee, an extra V-20........
Thats what I was thinking. I would think that they would not drain very well being close to the waterline. But they look like they are good size in the pictures I've seen. |
Re: Factory Livewells
Yeah, the volume of those infloors was fine, but if I had one, I'd use it for storage and sit somethin' like this on top of it
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...Image003-1.jpg This is one I made, but several are available on the market like this one http://www.fishing-boating.com/livewellsystems/ I like these cause all ya need is 12 volts to operate...no plumbing, thru-hulls or over-transom hoses ;) ... |

Re: Factory Livewells
Nice bait tank!
Does it keep pogies alive without circulating fresh water? |

Re: Factory Livewells
Yup...the key is areation, circulation, insulation and filtration !! ...mostly used for blue-back herring, but it'll kept menhaden, shrimp and other critters healthy and happy as well ... same goes for the Super Bait tank ... ;D ...

Re: Factory Livewells
RB - don't let this guy fool you. For Pete's sake he IS the top DAWG around here (besides MJ). The livewell he posted was designed by and built by him. He knows more than he lets on... ;)

Re: Factory Livewells
I was looking for info on the in floor baitwells as well . Do they really suck ? Mine currently is not plumbed . I was trying to figure the best way to plub it . Any ideas ? How were they plumbed originally ?

Re: Factory Livewells
I like the above deck tanks. I hate bending down to get the bait, and I always can get the tanks clean easily.

Re: Factory Livewells
reelappealin ......... I like that livewell ........ do you have any plans or drawings you could send to me ....... I'd like to build one
Thanks Rick |
Re: Factory Livewells
Thanks Rick ... no plans, made it up as I went along ... that Super Bait Tank I left the link for is a GREAT tank ... the 20 gal version is all ya need ;) ...and NO-NO-NO plumbin' 8) ...

Re: Factory Livewells
I have a 20 or 30 gallon round tank already with a Power bubbles aerator ......... I was wondering how you set up your pumps ..........
|
Re: Factory Livewells
I had an infloor in a previous boat and was not impressed with it. *bending over, water sloshing out in seas and when you got on plane, not fun. *This is one that I plumbed pretty easy and works well.
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...elltransom.jpg view from above. the large black hose is the overflow. The 1" clear hose is the water from the pump. I plumbed it wrong, it should be at 90* from the overflow http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...lfromabove.jpg I can swap out wells depending on the bait for the day. Large one is 30 gallons, the small one about 10. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...tlivewells.jpg When underway, I don't need the pump because of the angle of the pick-up. *The main drawback to this is the pump is underwater all the time. *I get about 3 years out of a pump. |
Re: Factory Livewells
Here's my pump setup...in the bottom of a stand-pipe...water comes up the half-pipe and thru the slot on right, down through a filter(Walmart batting and aquarium charcoal, not shown), pump shoots it through the areator and to the tank ...

Re: Factory Livewells
Thanks for the explanation and the pics ......... it gave me some ideas ............ do you use the pump to bring in fresh water (from outside the boat) .....
|
Re: Factory Livewells
No...this system does not require pumping in fresh water...you fill it and it recirculates, filters and aerates the water from that fill up... 8) ...
