Mission Accomplished

I left Randleman, the town at 0800 and returned @ 2000 with a V-20.

There is plenty to tell, and I got pic's too HAMMER.

I got to Ocean Isle around noon, the seller said he would be there around 1230 so I started checking over the boat. It was as described and I was pleased.

Seller arrived with a jump start box so we could tilt up the motor, cranking batt was DEAD. Got that done, hooked the trailer to the Pilot no prob, but the trailer light pigtail was too short to reach the Pilot. No big deal, I'll fix that before I head back.

Go to the ramp, a really nice southern ramp, back down and give her a try using the jump box, just not enough juice. I asked when was the last time she was cranked, he said it had been about a year or so.

Pulled up the ramp to a gas station, he had brought a hose and earmuffs so we jumpstart it on land. It starts, smokes like my dead uncle, pees a good stream.

After it has run long enough for the pee to be warm I tried the gears, loud but no prob. then I unhook the jumpercables from the battery while its still running, the alarm whistle starts immediately. Then it stops after a few minutes.

We go back down the ramp, it starts with the jump box this time so we set out. Get about 500 yards out and the whistle starts again so I just brought her back in.

To be continued.

There are two or three spots that need attention on the hull before any real use. I'll get better pics but the gelcoat is gone on both of these spots.

The fish box/live well cover between the seats is soft on the front left corner, will need fixing.

The door to the bilge needs fixing.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...101_0062-1.jpg

The bunks on the trailer are rotten but the trailer pulls nice, much better than my single axle under the Starcraft.

It has two real nice covers, came with lots of extras like lifejackes, anchor, ropes, outboard oil.

The hull has a few shiney spots but is mostly chalky.

I will be soliciting advise on all this stuff as I go.

Re: Mission Accomplished

The Merc ran great and was pissing strong the whole time, I wonder if the whistle was an electrical thing because the battery was so dead.

Seller said he had a new waterpump put in 2 years ago, but it has been sitting out in the NC heat since then.

Continuing the saga, we went to one of the sellers friends business to do the PayPal transfer, no prob, then we went to the UPS store for notory.....she's out sick so off to the bank...... success.

Now about those lights, the V is wide enough to block the Pilots lights so I gotta get the trailer lights going. *Hunt at 3 stores in the area, no go. *So back to the rig, I figure I'll drag it to Walmart in Shalotte, 10 miles away, and get what I need, fix it, then go.

Just then I remember that in my box of trailering crap I have a flat 4 to 7 round adapter thats long enough. *So I go to work with my handy tools I brought along just in case.

After about 45 min I have half the lights working, after another 45 min I still have half the lights working so I gave up and made it with just the right side lights.

All in all it was a long day but I am happy with the boat. *I am concerned about the whistle on the Merc but thats just for resale anyway.

Oh yeah, and the good news/bad news on the gas tank. The leaking original was replaced in 2001 with a nice plastic one.....good.

The bad news is, it is a 30 gal instead of a 60.

Still shouldn't be a problem with the Johnzuki, but I was looking forward to having a boat with a 300 mile range.

Well if it was pissing then the pump should be fine?? I would change any way!!

alarm is oil or heat, steady horn is heat and beeping horn is oil. In most cases.

Might be getting enough water at Idel, but when you tryed to go it can't pump enough?

O well you got it home and thats what counts!! There will be pleanty of time to fool with things !!

30 should get you by most of the time, but if you ever want to venture far you will have to figure something else out??

I have 3 tanks, two 20's and a 25. about 95% of my trips the 25 is pleanty!
