Re: 92# Striped Bass
MJ...thanks for postin' that up...92# HUGE...it really doesn't matter it wasn't caught on hook & line, but to me, that it's verified they're out there THAT BIG!!...
If I can find it, I'll document this: several years back commercial fishermen came in w/ a striper carcass(had been headed and gutted) that someone spotted B4 it went to processing...state biologists were called in, examined the fish and estimated live it would have weighed 147lbs ... saw that in one of the mags...I'll see if I can dig it out... |

Re: 92# Striped Bass
I've never fished for stripers but with walleyes the large ones are fun to catch and good for show but its the average size ones that taste the best. Billy Mac ;D

Re: 92# Striped Bass
Bass are best eatting small, 22 to 24" but size here is 2 a day at 28" Them big ones suck!! Have a big blood line in there you have to trim out!
I will eat but they no were near my favorite, I love Fluke, Sea Bass, Cod, Hadock, :-* |
Re: 92# Striped Bass
Do you'll get Spade or Taug up there/ Those fish are real Good Eats. You are right about the smaller stripe bass on taste and ease in cleaning.

Re: 92# Striped Bass
Tog yes, spade??
|
Re: 92# Striped Bass
kinda like an angel fish or sheepshead. bait stealing great fun to catch. Good eats. strip the line right off and break it off in structure. Use sea clams small heavy hook. Catch them off Va beach at the Cheasapeake light tower. They are around the islands and large pilings on the Cheasapeake bay bridge.

Re: 92# Striped Bass
Whopper, we get into the spades off Chincoteague every summer. I think DE bay is the north end of there range.

Hadock & Cod run pretty close toghter with the Cod on the bottom Hadocl up higher. Thay some of the best fish in the water!! No spades up here to far north I guess. |
