Re: the extension kit is in and INSTALLED!!!!!!! Draggin - GOOD WORK!! That looks much better . . . have you taken it for a spin yet? |

Re: the extension kit is in and INSTALLED!!!!!!! MJ Don't worry I got to extended my 1994 150 Johnson in a couple of weeks and all snap some photos of the install for you. Hey Dragn: Do you have to ream out the midsection shaft area on a Mercury to get the drive shaft coupler to fit? I was a little leary when I did my first one on a OMC 235 I have currently installed. Although you don't have to remove to much material, spinning a hole saw on a 15" extension when you can't see what your doing is a little imtimidating! Kamikaze |

Re: the extension kit is in and INSTALLED!!!!!!! i just got back and the boat did awesome!!! it went from barely getn on a plain and blowing out on turns to jumpn up and haul'n *ss! top speed before install was 24 and now she'll do 38 with a full load of fuel 2 men and a dog. thanks to all who helped me figure out what the problem was (especially big shrimpin) and macojoe, i promise on the next project there will be more pics! to answer your question kamikaze, there was no kind of modification. no reaming. the extension pieces for the shafts just slid on top of them and slid into place with no problems. |
|
Re: the extension kit is in and INSTALLED!!!!!!! OMC is the only one that makes you ream *>:( Some one told me to get a reaming tool, ( i have never seen one) and it makes it real easy to keep it stright? |

Re: the extension kit is in and INSTALLED!!!!!!! well, now i need to paint it. was think'n of go'n the cheap route with some high gloss krylon spray paint. probably end up regreting that though. what do you all think? ??? |

The manufacturer's spray paint works well for me...til I run it up on another sandbar :o ... BS's suggestion on the primer is GOOD info ;) ... |

Re: the extension kit is in and INSTALLED!!!!!!! Check Scream and Fly for the black krylon color . . . I can't remember which on it is . . . but it's a near perfect match for the merc. Grey Zinc Primer, Black gloss, and if you want to go crazy try the clear on top . . . the three cans cost me about $11 total at kragen?? 38mph sounds like you got that motor pretty well dialed in. |

Re: the extension kit is in and INSTALLED!!!!!!! a bracket is definately on the "WISH LIST". but i think its more on the "my wife wishes i didnt have a boat to put all of my time into list" than the actually getting one list! |

Re: the extension kit is in and INSTALLED!!!!!!! The picture is of my Renkin that the V is replacing, but the steering cable was not touching the bracket. The V is getting a hydrualic system so it will be a cleaner look. :) |
