*Weather Alert*  Very serious...

No joke here guys. If you live coastal from VA to MASS, study your local forcast and batten down the hatches for Sunday / Monday. Looking at a Nor'Easter equivilant to a Cat 1 'Cane. Add to that the highest tides of the year with Mondays full moon and pending the storm track, somebody is going to have a mess.

Keep your eyes open to the possibilities and get your sh!t together.

Good luck,

Your welcome, and if I fall off the radar, we may have a lot of work to do preparing for the storm.

We got a good jump on this one. Staff has got it together and it looks like I can caost a bit on this one. As long as we can keep the staff motivated on Friday. I hate weekend problems.

On a better note, local forcast has delayed the strorm 6 hours...might give me a chance to go fishing mid day Saturday. Have to work in the am.

After an "aborted launch" last weekend, I had planned to put in tomorrow for the season, and maybe go check out the Heritage tournament Sunday. Now I'm not so sure . . .

Sat
Se winds 10 to 15 kt...becoming S 15 to 20 kt in the afternoon.
Sun
SW winds 25 to 35 kt early...becoming W 25 to 30 kt.

Re: *Weather Alert*  Very serious...

I will not be fooled again. It was a similar storm last year (but in June) that took out my boat moored in a protected bay. Hopefully a tree won't hit it in the driveway. However, stupid me left the rod boxes off and the boat is uncovered (and I cannot get to it to cover them). I guess I'll have to learn how to drain the foam insulation. It is supposed to rain for days on Cape Cod.

I think this warrants a trip to Lewes,
even though I was planning a trip tomorrow,
this gives me a really good excuse.

HAMMER, I will definately see you tomorrow.

Re: *Weather Alert*  Very serious...

Well, the good news as of now is that they are calling for NW more than NE. That is a huge help in preventing coastal flooding. If the wind favors NE, I'll be in the V :o

Re: *Weather Alert*  Very serious...

Not the case here in New England: Looks like it will be bad. 25 feet offshore.

NOAA:
HEAVY RAIN SUNDAY INTO MONDAY MAY TOTAL AS MUCH AS 3 TO 5 INCHES.
THIS WOULD PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT URBAN FLOODING...AS WELL AS
WIDESPREAD FLOODING OF RIVERS AND STREAMS. ACROSS THE
INTERIOR...ESPECIALLY IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS...RAIN MAY MIX WITH
OR EVEN CHANGE TO A WINTRY MIX OF RAIN...SLEET AND SNOW WITH
SOME ACCUMULATION.

EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL BE STRONGEST NEAR THE COAST...WHERE
SUSTAINED WINDS OF 35 MPH ARE POSSIBLE WITH DAMAGING GUSTS UP TO 55
MPH SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY. THERE IS A LOW PROBABILITY OF GUSTS
REACHING 65 MPH ON THE IMMEDIATE COAST...ESPECIALLY NEAR CAPE COD AND
THE ISLANDS.

IN ADDITION...THE STORM WILL BRING AN INCREASED THREAT OF
SIGNIFICANT AND PROLONGED COASTAL FLOODING BEGINNING SUNDAY NIGHT.
THE COMBINATION OF HIGH ASTRONOMICAL TIDES...PERSISTENT ONSHORE
WINDS AND HIGH SEAS JUST OFFSHORE COULD PRODUCE AT LEAST MODERATE
COASTAL FLOODING IN SEVERAL HIGH TIDE CYCLES SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH
TUESDAY. SIGNIFICANT BEACH EROSION IS ALSO POSSIBLE.

FOR THE MARINE COMMUNITY...STORM FORCE WINDS ARE POSSIBLE SUNDAY
NIGHT INTO TUESDAY WITH SEAS BUILDING AS HIGH AS 25 FEET OFFSHORE.

PEOPLE IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...ESPECIALLY MARINERS AND THOSE WITH
INTERESTS NEAR THE COAST AND ALONG RIVERS AND STREAMS...ARE STRONGLY
ADVISED TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE LATEST STATEMENTS AND
FORECASTS ON THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS COASTAL STORM. LISTEN TO
NOAA ALL HAZARDS WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR LOCAL MEDIA.

Re: *Weather Alert*  Very serious...

Now I am REALLY wishing I had covered the boat or at least re-installed the rod boxes. I have enough repairs to do already.

Yeah MJ:

I know, but I thought about fixing her up all winter and could not wait to start. Feel free to drop over there and cover her up for me. I do not believe whatever cover I was going to put back on it would have held up to this storm anyway.

Hammer...w/all the bad weather and HIGH WINDS movin' in, I's thinkin' ya might need me to come up and see to Lisa whilst yer out savin' everybody else, takin' pics and all...I'll make that sacrifice for ya ;) ... of course provided she's onboard w/the idea too ;D ...

macojoe 04-14-2007 08:17 AM

Re: *Weather Alert*  Very serious...

Well they say tomorrow Noon to start, 3 to 5 inches of rain, winds might reach 60 MPH, But most 30 with gusts to 45 NE

Making a big pot of homemade chicken soup, Dig out the DVD's and keeping warm. ;)

V's cover has stood up well this winter!! So I am sure it will be fine, and if not then I guess its a sign to get it uncovered.
