Say Tin

Bait, plugs eels? All of the above or do you have one particular "go to" for Stripers? I seem to have gone through phases over the years. From chunking to trolling to eels to plugs. I don't really troll anymore, but I'll throw a chunk out while working plugs these days. Eels will always be a favorite. I was never much for working plugs, but the last few years have been building more and more confidence. Not much can beat a decent Striper at first light on topwater plugs I say. ;)

I like fishing plugs the best. Bucktails w/porkrind a favorite here too.....but eels produce the most and biggest fish for me. Chunks work well too but I like driftin better. Also, live Porgies will get you a trophy!

What's you min size on Porgies? 10" up here. 'course the undersize 6-8" is the ticket. Snip the fins and don't get caught. ;)

Went out yesterday, in Barnegat bay and Barnegat Inlet, had a bucket full of frisky perfect size eels, marking stripes in holes in the bay. Hit them in the head with live eels on both sides of the tides and slack water. THEY DID NOT WANT THEM :-/. First time in my life Stripes would ignore eels in their face. Caught some schoolies 25-27 inches on Tsunami artificials and on surface poppers in the cuts between sand bars.
Went out to the inlest and played dodge em with the submerged rocks on the jetty end and they were there but would not touch the eels. Some guy who went and paid 4.50 for spots was catching them on every cast, would not touch bunker live or chunks and would not touch eels in the exact same place. Fishing go figure ???

And anyone from the site in Barnegat Inlet yesterday, saw a nice V20 coming in from out side the inlet, could not see the name on the boat.
