Return From Sunset...

Well the Atlantic Winds blew the week away and never got outside to use the outriggers ... used the boat 3 days to cruise the backwaters, ICW and inlets of the southern-most coast of North Carolina

Here's wifey floatin' out behind the "V" at and inlet called Lockwood's Folley (I guess Lockwood screwed up somethin' here years ago ::))
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90.../IMGP09042.jpg

A wayward rental kayack lodged itself under the dock and after a coupla days of nobody comin' to get it, the girls took it for a spin around the canals...

The canal behind the house ... ocean in the distance...

Reelapeelin at ease

Lookin' out of the inlet past the point...too nasty to venture out all week

Hope ya'll enjoy the pix as much as I did gettin' 'em...this was kind of a "Last Hurrah" for me ... startin' a new job next Monday and time's gonna be severely restricted for the foreseeable future ...

Thanks Pipe!!...two things have lead to this ... patent expiration and college tuition ... I'll be a construction site supervisor for a large GC firm ... or that's where things start anyway ... layin' plans beyond that, but we'll see ;) ...

Killer pics Reel! Sorry to hear the weather didn't cooperate. I went down to Murrell's Inlet on Friday morning through Saturday evening. Was able to get out on Friday afternoon but a big thunderstorm was looming and the water was all dirty. We made it out 3 miles, nothing happening, so we waited it out for a bit and the storm came up so we hauled @ss and beat the storm back in! Saturday morning it was ruff as a cob - just like your pic. ::)

Git em next time! And good luck with your new job!

Re: Return From Sunset...

I was looking thru the posts this morning to see if the outriggers paid off.
We stayed on Oak Island a couple of years ago for a week in late July. Caught a few fish off the reefs there and trolling. But one morning headed to 18 Mile Rock and got caught between two storms just as we got there. The waves increased to between 8-12ft and it took us 4 hours to come back in.
I like it up there, we put in at the marina and ramp at the southern end of Long Beach and entered and exited at Lockwoods Folly Inlet.
Well at least ya'll had fun and a good trip.

Nice pics Reel,

Too bad about the wind, hope it blew itself out cause I'm going down there Wednesday.

Lockwood built a big boat up the river (the Lockwood's Folly River), then couldn't get it out of the river because of the sandbar. *(Before the days of the dredge)

Thanks R'man...figured his screw-up had something to do w/that little inlet, but from what yer sayin' sounds like he didn't make it THAT far ::) ...

Re: Return From Sunset...

Looks like its working REEL.

The OI Fishing report says the wind has stopped and is forcast to be low all week.

NOAA says 10 knots or less Thursday and Friday.

I appreciate you getting it to blow out last week.
