Re: Specs

This boat was purchased by my grandfather (new) in "75 and I stumbled upon it by way of the third owner. I just bought it a week ago. It's amazing that it was in the same county for all these years. Hull and trailer is in remarkable shape for the age but now the work begins.

Re: Specs

Just remember, it is a labor of love and not for money,
and the grandfather connection makes it even better. ;)

Well, it's got a 150 Mariner on it (not yet tested) and I've got a 90 Evinrude plus the parts to upgrade to 140. Thanks

Re: Specs

(trying to keep this brief)
Granddaddy bought the boat new in "75 for $4995 with a single axle trailer and 125 Evinrude. Being in poor health sold it to his nephew about 1981. Not receiving payment for some time he asked Daddy to repossess it. Finding the boat without a motor (supposedly blown), Daddy informed Granddaddy and he sent money for a new motor. Daddy bought and installed a new 140 Evinrude ($2200) about 1982. The boat sat for about two years unused till after Granddaddy died and Grandma asked Daddy to sell the boat. Having done all the work he bought it, however the motor had a defect with the piston grooves too close to the top and was now out of warrenty and politely blew the carbs off. Daddy let a childhood friend (Fred) sell the boat to a fishing buddy. Fred's buddy died sometime later and Fred sold it to his son in laws father. Well he died later (about two years ago), so the son in law had the boat unused for this time now with a 150 Mariner on it. A couple weeks ago Fred asked Daddy if he knew anyone interested in the boat, so $700 later it ended up with me.

I think that boat is where it's been tryin' to be since your granddad passed on... ;) :) ...

Re: Specs

Well considering the boats 32yrs old, the survival rate of former owners is almost expected.
