All POS. *
Just go Albermarle. Hell they start at 24 foot and go as high as the Kennedy's can afford! ;D ;D As a matter a fact, get out of my website talking such trash. |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
MJ, I can see the Formula, but you'd be a fool to go from the V to a 22 Angler?
|
Re: Help MJ find his next boat

Re: Help MJ find his next boat
Thanks guys!!
Well I am still shoping! I saw this boat and it sounded good, so thought I would ck it out. But if they suck that bad then I guess I will pass! The Formula is still a Option right now so lets see what happens! There is always the Pursuit I was thinking about, But he has not answered my last email. |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
If yer considerin' Angler, ya might as well be lookin' at Bayliners, too ;) ... the Angler dealer down here...if yer foolish enough to walk in and ask about one on his lot, his response is, "Go out and get me the HID offn' the one ya like, brang it back in here and I'll tell ya how much it'll cost ya."

Re: Help MJ find his next boat
MJ, my brother has a 1989 22' Angler with a 225 Merc on it. 3 guys with gear and full fuel she tops out about 44 mph. The boat is built well for an entry level boat. It performs great in choppy water, it has alot to do with the position of the helm. The helm is set back further in the boat providing for a softer ride but not compromising deck space. It is truly a walkaround, you can actually sit on the front or stand and cast. Theres alot of room on the front of the boat and the cabin is big for a 22 footer without taking up too much deck space. The downside to the boat is limited fuel capacity 65 gallons. All in all I think angler makes a good boat, I know alot of the older ones are still around.

Re: Help MJ find his next boat
I had a 78 ANGLER 19' bay boat, P.O.S.!!!!!, ended up having the hull split 3 feet down the middle. But keep in mind the age of it as well though. I have never heard anything good about em down here though.

Re: Help MJ find his next boat
Thanks everyone!! all opions are welcome!! I did not go look at the Angler today I called it off after hearing all the bad reviews, here and else were!!
But then I get a good review from Mulv and a good friend?? I might go Monday to look?? But with a 17* Deadrise I think its not what I am looking for? I like the first boat BGA posted in OH the other has the stepp deck and i nom its a good boat as I fished on one for years with a friend, But that step up sucks and makes for a small deck area. Keep them coming guys! Only 4 days left on ebay and 14 people watching of coarse I think 13 are V20 people?? ;) |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
Grady?!
http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/boa/404826667.html 8) Edit - I have no knowledge nor have I seen the boat. |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
You need one of the 248 Offshore hulls w/a full transom...that'd be THE boat for ya!! 8)

Re: Help MJ find his next boat
MJ, Don't let that 17 degree deadrise scare you. They have a sharp entry that really cuts through the chop. We use my brothers boat in the Delaware Bay which I think is probably similar to the type of water you run in. It always has an afternoon chop, while my V slaps me to death my brothers Angler knocks down the chop with ease. It sounds like I'm a paid endorser of Angler, but seriously the boat rides great, you won't be disappointed in the ride.

Re: Help MJ find his next boat
Angler has been around awhile and they have made some dramatic iprovements the last five or six years and they are pretty well built now adays.
That second one BGA posted in PA looks very nice, if the engine is in nice shape that would be a sweet boat, and I rather like the step up due to water on the deck point of view but understand the smaller fishing area. You sure you don't want to look at a CC MJ. plenty of fishing room and with the addition of some wing canvass for cooler weather could be nice. |

That will be to late, But on the good side he lives in Gulfport not far from Biloxi Ms, so if I win I can have the guy go there wuith it and he will store it till I can get there to get it!! That will take some of the perssure off! |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
That is sweet, price sounds like it is going to be great.
How do they ride and are they wet, looks like a speed boat type of hull, whats the deadrise on them. It looks fast that is for sure. Also MJ it has two bildge pumps may not be good for you ;D |

Re: Help MJ find his next boat
Well after some careful research, I found out that the FORMULA 233 was in fact designed by Jim Wynne and Walt Walters. Jim Wynne based his designs off of the origanal Ray Hunt deep vee design sporting 24 degrees of deadrise, so she is based off of similar lines to the BERTRAM 25/31. The 233 FORMULA was the first hull that FORMULA boats designed under it's founder Don Aronow. Don Aronow later founded DONZI, and then MAGNUM and finally CIGARETTE, all of which were origanally founded off of the 233 FORMULA's design. So that FORMULA has quite the performance history to it, and a VERY sea-keeping design as well(everybody here has heard of BERTRAM and there fame I believe).
Learn somethin new everyday, who knew the internet was good for more than porn and forums ;D. If you could extend your budget, here's 2 close to you. http://www.boats.com/listing/boat_de...;srh_prev=true http://www.boats.com/listing/boat_de...;srh_prev=true But if you can't, maybe you could consider this one. http://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/boa/402822858.html Or this one. http://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/boa/404855390.html |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
Thanks Therm!!
I saw 2nd one of them boston ones already but have not contacted the guy. 1st one sounds great that ity has all new decks and stringers which are one problem these seem to have. One in FL is set up nice and is a OB already, I hate i/o just never had good luck with them, but hey for the right price I will take one and convert later? I am so confused!! What I need to do is get rid of mine so I am ready to go!! Thanks guys!! |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
It wont sell with that Bracket on. Yank it off !! ;D
|
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
That second one that Ferm posted from the Boston Craigslist says that the anchor is included. What a deal! ::)
What is it with people that makes them think they can sell their boats without the anchor? I've bought two boats that didn't come with anchors... Strange. |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
How about a 25 foot Chris Craft Dually?
There's one in Baltimore for under $5k, but doesn't seem to come with a trailer. Looks clean though! http://baltimore.craigslist.org/boa/401343141.html |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
Looks nice, But twin I/O's :o No thank you!!
But Thanks! |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
Responce from the FL Formula auction over 6 days
Yes I can tow it to long beach but we have to through in an extra $45 for gas. ( Funny, he will tow to Biloxi Ms for free. But wants $45 more to go the 18 miles to Long beach??) THe decks are rock solid I had the center deck replaced with marine grade wood that had been treated with west system two part epoxy so it will last longer than the rest of the boat. Not one soft spot on the entire boat. I do not have the compression number from the motors in the last 100 hours but I do from when I bought the motor a year ago and will gladly look those up for you if you would like. I do have all of the service records from the dealer for that motor since it was new. The bracket was on there when I purchased the boat it had an old evinrude that started to give me problems so I got rid of the motor and put the new one on that is what sparked the restoration. If yoyu have any further questions please feel free to call me |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
Responce from Wellcraft in MI. auction ove 20 hours
yes the trailer is going with the boat it is an alluminum trailer that I have used to take the boat back and forth to Florida. The boat doesn't have soft spots and yes it has a step up to the forward walk around deck. I will transport it to most places for a dollar a mile. So this would cost me like $850 if he towed it to me. |
Re: Help MJ find his next boat
You know MJ, you may have swayed my decision on what boat I want to get in the near future. There are quite a few of these 23' FORMULAS down here that need engine work for not alot of money. She definately has nice lines to her, and is definately built off of the legendary RAY HUNT deep-vee design.

I had seen this one before and put on the back burner, but then Therm brought it back up so I called the guy, He says all is solid and runs great! I guess we will see on Monday? But I have to still sell mine :'( http://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/boa/404855390.html |
