New Setting
The board is open to all that want to look now, But they can not post unless they are a member and logged in.
It will be this way on the new board also. I love that the board grows every day!! But its just useless members cause most never post! So we may slow down the numbers a bit but at least I am hoping that the ones that do join want to contribute some! |
Re: New Setting
Is this the new board ??? or is it a new www.wellcraftv20 web site ???
Where is it. I'm lost. Help. :'( :'( :'( |
Re: New Setting
We are still were we have always been!! * The change will not come for awhile yet
We are fighting to get all the transfers to work right, but we are gaining everyday! I am going to stick with Jan some time. You will know the new board when you se it!! Its not going to look anything like this one!! |
Re: New Setting

|
Re: New Setting
So, the web address will remain the same, and one day we will go there and just see it looks different?
|
Re: New Setting
Pretty much
|
Re: New Setting
Is this what you are saying:
You made a change to the existing sight so that folks cannot just become a member without posting first. Am I right? |
Re: New Setting
I think he was saying that if you cook yams like rhubarb, it tastes more like rhutabegga than apples.
But I'm not sure. |
Re: New Setting
Wow is all I can say!!
what is there to understand?? The site is open to all who want to look, but they have to Join the site to post. Right here right now!! And it will be that way on the new board also! Am I missing someting?? ::) |
Re: New Setting
I think what there trying to say in windtalker is that ANYBODY can now see the WELLCRAFTV20 site. Before you had to be a member to even look at it, now you don't. This will cut down on alot of the people that join just to read our forum and never post, This will also help to free up server space to help speed the system up(less hang-ups). Every member takes up space on the server, which in turn causes slow down's.
In other words, they tryin to speed us up SCOTTY ;). Is this what you were trying to translate to us oh great and mystical eye? |
Re: New Setting
LMFAO ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
|
Re: New Setting
there is a yes and no answer, yes to stoping zero memberships, and no to make faster , cause the new server is huge and lighting fast!! ;D
you will also see tat the member numbers have been cut in half!! I got rid of 1000 Zero members! It sucks are numbers are down, but when we transfer, it will cut down on amount of member problmes that might come up. Rather work on the living and not the dead. |
Re: New Setting
I don't get it... ???
;) |
Re: New Setting
I didn't say I was fluent in windtalker, that's CB's department ;). I was trying to translate the best I could to hicklish ;D.
And Vbulletin will slow down when your numbers begin to climb. I'm a member of several forums on the Vbulletin format now. |
Re: New Setting
well we have 568 members now, thats 25% active members
The other 75% are now gone!! But thats not bad as I have heard thenumber on most boards is more like 15% |
Re: New Setting
quality not quantity ::)

Re: New Setting
Willy's got it.
See, windtalking is a very complex dialect to learn. Sometimes even more complex to translate as there are certain "isms" to the dialect that are not directly correlated to common everyday English as the rest are used to. Windtalking is not indigenous to any particular geographical area but rather a certain genus of homo sapien that display traits of loud obnoxious behavior, knuckles dragging on the ground, and type with the the second joint of each finger. There are many other traits, but this being a family friendly site, I don't want the kiddies laying awake at night for fear of the ensuing nightmares. |

We will be switching to the new Yabb board first, maybe next week, then January we will be going to the VB. This is nessary to get the tools we need (and they are few :-/ ) to then transfer to VB. |

Re: New Setting
Ran into a huge jam today :(
The new server has a FTP limt were you can't load more then 2000 files at a time, and we have over 20,000 just in one folder, after serveal talks with the tec people and there refusal to up the limt from the 2000 I dumped them today!! But I have already bought into a new hosting Co, and will start again Thursday :-/ Hope things go better this time!! NOw I hope there is not going to be a issue with getting the 6 months in advance I payed for the server ??? On the new board I just bought 1 month till we figure out if its going to work for are needs. Are webmaster Valiant has busting his A$$ for a week now and this has been the only thing stoping us from going on the new server!! We were hoping to do it tonight :(, O well its a coming thanks John for all your hard work and you guys stand by while we try to get this thing going! |
Re: New Setting
Thanks to both of you guys ;)
|
Re: New Setting
Isn't FTP fun?
I use it on a regular basis for transferring files, and sometimes it can be very tempermental. I will spend a whole day and then realize I have a space in a file name where there should be none or an underscore. |
Re: New Setting
You are right!! I have a small amout of ime in on FTP and it hasn't been to bad, John has tons of time on FTP and says if not for the limt we be on the new server today.
O well its coming!! I got all the money back today from that server! Not even a question?? They must have this problem offten! |
Re: New Setting
That sux MJ!! Keep up the good work. Who would have guessed that there'd be a file limit that small.
|
Re: New Setting
I noticed sumthin' diff when I logged on. ThanX Gents for the fine job keepin' the site goin'.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah,...and Festivas |
Re: New Setting
Hi everyone. I feel I have to weigh in here and clear up some things.
First of all, this is not the new site. As you read, there was a problem with the new server people. Despite your oh faithful leaders best folding money, the new guys seemed not to understand that I need FULL FTP access to all the files that are a part of the board, not just the ones they deem fit for me to see (approximately 10%, as it happened), so as a result they are no longer our new hosting service. Unfortunately, this means that I have to start again from scratch on yet ANOTHER new server, which hopefully will not have silly FTP LIST limits like the other guys did. In the meantime, I have gotten a lot of the ground work done. A full site backup has been secured and the current YaBB version of this board has been upgraded slightly to a version that is more compatible with vBulletin in preparation for the upgrade. Before we pulled the plug on the other guys, I was able to import the data from this forum to the new vBulletin. It sort of worked, but the import was corrupted. That is where the problem came in, when I was unable to verify the integrity of the data on the new server in an effort to diagnose the problem with the import because of their silly LIST limit. If you don't understand much of this geek talk, don't worry, Joe fired those guys in a conference call in which I participated in this past Saturday. You all would have cheered that. Anyway, we WILL get where we are going, but it will take a while to iron out all of the bugs and get everything perfect. Your patience in this transitional period is appreciated. |
