This is a little crazy, but it would sure be fun to take it for a spin!! |
Re: v20 w/ twin 140's :)
That's one way to keep from blockin' that pesky center-mounted splashwell drain...and it looks like you'd better keep that hole OPEN :-*

Re: v20 w/ twin 140's :)
What year model is that thing...looks older than my old '74

Re: v20 w/ twin 140's :)
Might want to install a dual controller at the helm. No wait, one engine may be a spare.
|
Re: v20 w/ twin 140's :)
I missed that . . . good eyes ;)
I don't know where the dual controller is going to go????? |
Re: v20 w/ twin 140's :)
I would like to see it when it is wired and in the water. Thats a lot of weight hanging off that transom.I would guess 900lbs or more. Capt K

Yeah, and they're not Ocean Pro's either. ???

Re: v20 w/ twin 140's :)
That's mine now...looked her over and the hull is very solid and the transom work is tied in at all the right places and then some. Faster than I ever need to go, but fun. The wife won't want me to go past the jetties with just one engine. The engines are saltwater engines. Counterrotating. The lower units came off of both engines without a single seized bolt! The timing was off at idle(a lot), but full throttle was right on. The engines are in suprizingly good shape. Less the 10% leakdown on each cylinder. I'll either need to put on trim tabs or shims to clock the engines down a little more; they need less trim at low speeds. I had her out on the water yesterday and for the first time full throttle over a few miles. 74.2mph, but the rpms were a little high at 6000rpm. I'm thinking 5500rpm WOT. And another 50 something gallons of fuel forward in the boat. I have a long list of things to do now. I'll post so ya'll can let me know what is stupid and what isn't.

Re: v20 w/ twin 140's :)
Hey Havis!! Welcome aboard!!
The Ebay link is dead now and I'm dying to see pics of this deamon V-Step20. Can you get them posted here or in a gallery? And people look at me like I'm crazy for wanting to put a V8/350 back into my boat... to try to get around 55MPH. But I have to admit I was looking at single/twin brackets from Stainless Marine. hmmmm. |
Re: v20 w/ twin 140's :)
yep 350, 55 mph!! Twins Wow 60 mph!!
Gas $250 9/10 and climbing!! Jester out of gas 10 miles out, PRICELESS! Maybe if you go fast anough you can coast in?? |
Re: v20 w/ twin 140's :)
A real rocket but I would be real concerned if this boat is legal. Its got to be over the authorized hp limit. Also look at the data plate. Around 920 lbs is the max engine weight permitted. Can't imagine how an insurance underwriter would look at this. But sure would be fun to run
|
Re: v20 w/ twin 140's :)
Yes, I've wondered all that. The data tag is there but completely unreadable. 920# sounds like a lot! I have just under 800# in engines and then the jackplates, so I'm close to that number. As for HP, the data I've found (in the Gallery brochures) is she could be had with twin 115's, but didn't see any photo's of it. I'd bet my next paycheck I'm over the original hp rating on the transom, but I have no idea what that is. The transom has been rebuilt & trussed and Texas has a method by whick I could have an officer of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept. come by and sign off on it, (then it would be titled as a home-built boat) but I think why stir up anything? Enough rambling....
Does anyone had a picture of the data tag off of a '73 cuddy? Havis |
