Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7
Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report
Thursday 4/5 Water temp 62 Air temp - heck if I know but it was warm enough not to have the enclosure and to get sun burned on my neck *;D Had one other person on board - first mate Cory. Started out pulling minnows in the creek. *Tide was wrong for that so we anchored in the mouth of some intersecting creeks where I had caught flounder in the past - no luck. *Ended up fishing beside of the north jetty near the end. *Landed 2 nice black drum. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0405071031.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0405071319.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...405071319a.jpg You'll never believe who I saw - Hammer in his Bayliner *;D http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...405071319b.jpg Me and the 1st black drum on fresh shrimp. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0405071253.jpg Cory and the 2nd drum: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0405071325.jpg A sea urchin that was on my anchor when I pulled it up. *I have a video of it too that I will post. *It was moving all around! VIDEO OF URCHIN - Best viewed in small window: http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0405071430.flv http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0405071430.jpg He's no "Blue" Runner. * Just a regular ol "Point" Runner - far inferior *::) http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0405071457.jpg Pulling in to the dock http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0405071458.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...405071458a.jpg Friday 4/6 Water temp 56 Air temp - cold as a whiz - like 45 for the high and windy. Had brother in law Robin and nephew Ross aboard along with 1st mate Cory. Tried to anchor back on the jetty. *Got anchored good but current swept the lines away from the rocks. *No luck. *Tried trolling. *Wind was too strong. *Got skunked *:-/ http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0406071146.jpg Lil man got tired and had a nice place to relax: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0406071143.jpg Back at the room in the parking lot: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0406071837.jpg Saturday 4/7 Water temp 55 Air temp - cold as a whiz - like 42 for the high. Went straight out to 3 mile reef. *Grabbed a couple of blues and micro seabass. *Came back in and anchored on the tip of the north jetty. *Landed 4 more blues but nothing else. *The birds were working over the blues. *Looked like the gulls were feeding on glass minnows. We managed to get out pretty early. *7am pulling out of the ramp Videos: http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0407070712.flv http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0407070715.flv http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0407070705.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...407070702a.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0407070702.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...407070941a.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0407070941.jpg The back seat ended up being a great tackle rigging station. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0407071200.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0407071201.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...407071201a.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...407071201b.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...407071201c.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0407071312.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0407071355.jpg Later that evening a walk on the pier http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0407071823.jpg |

Re: Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7
Its ALWAYS hit or miss this time of year. *Luckily, I wasn't expecting to catch much if anything at all. *You've got to realize - I'm no AIRSLOT *;D
Don't forget to click on the video links - :D |
Re: Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7

and i know that most of us would love to be able to catch fish like Airslot. ;) |
Re: Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7

Cy, it got really rough out there at 3 mile. I had to keep on the gas to keep the bow up. We were making only 8 to 10 mph on the way back in. I would have taken a video but it wouldn't have mattered because a little bit of spray was sneaking through my enclosure that would have ruined the cam. Plus I had to hold on! |
Re: Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7
By the way, I didn't notice it but my wife pointed out that lil man did not have on his life jacket in the cuddy. Apparently his daddy let him take it off to nap. I would have never allowed that since I could have been ticketed had the man showed up ::)
He was safe though cause we were in the creek at that point. But still..... Blue out. |
Re: Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7
Somebody picking on 'Slot round here ;D Don't sweat it, broad shoulders and thick skin ;D
And like was said, I was stuck in the snow, all weekend. It's good...no great to be back at the waters edge ;D |
Re: Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7
Nice report BR.
Thanks for sharing your pics and video. Man you have a fine looking V by the way. ;) |
Re: Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7
For real tho, glad you are thawing out up there Slot. Hopefully those flatties didn't run too far due to the cold snap.
Thanks Bass, preshate it ;) |
Re: Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7
Oh, those flatties didn't run anywhere. They'll just dig into the mud and lay there till it warms up. When it's cold, they don't need to eat often at all. When it warms up, it'll be game on ;D

Yeah, my relatives bought a condo on the beach at Pawleys Pier, just across the street from the police station. ;)

Re: Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7
Hammer, let me know when you come down. There is a chance I'll be down that way a couple more times this summer. We could hook up and let me show you where to catch the king macks down there ;)

Re: Murrell's Inlet SC Fishing Report 4/5 - 4/7
I found a couple of pics that were hiding on my camera. I thought I didn't save them because I couldn't see them?
Anyway, here goes: Black Drum and Blues http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0409071827.jpg Bluefish fillets - I normally double fillet but these were too small. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0409071838.jpg Cut the skin off (double fillet) of Black Drum http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0409071852.jpg |
