Despite living through one of the most politically and racially divisive eras in U.S. history, the youngest of voting-age Americans — especially those of color —appear more hopeful about the country's future than they were four years ago, a new poll released Friday finds.

The Harvard Youth Poll of 2,513 Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 conducted from March 9 to March 22, found them expressing significantly more optimism than in the months after Donald Trump became president.

Our youth needs to be more concerned with economic and foreign policy, including immigration policy, rather than petty insults. We need to remember the "Sticks and Stones" saying.

I dont believe the polls. You ever been asked to be in one? Most of the youth that age that I know either are still living at home without a job or in a dead end job or trying to figure out how to pay for the thousands of dollars they just spent on college. And most didnt know anything about the what was going on before trump.

Did you forget about the 2 hospital ships USS Comfort and USS Mercy that President Trump somehow got equipped and sent to both CA and NYC in less than 14 days even though some experts said it would take a minimum of 6 months? How many people died because of no ventilators? What about his talking to Ford Motor company and forcing them to shut down car lines and start making ventilators for all the hospitals because there weren't enough (because the Obama administration used our national stockpile for SARS and then never replaced them)? HUH? What about those life saving little details. or the hundreds of others that we will probably never know about... and you sit there and deride him for not wearing a mask and falsely accuse him of causing 570,000 American deaths?

Naaaa.... Actually, there's a good chance that his next likely destination will be the White House in 2024 (and again in 2028) I think that 2016-2020 was just round one. In fact, he might be able to run for a third term in 2028. I think that Obama can run for a third term again also. I am NOT a lawyer, so I'm not sure on the third term status, but Trump most definitely can run again in 2024.

The New York Times this week reported that Trump paid tens of millions of dollars, amounting to at least $66 milllion, in taxes since 2000.
In taxes in seven of the years of tax returns the paper looked at Trump had tax billions in the millions thanks to the alternative minimum tax.
“Mr. Trump paid alternative minimum tax in seven years between 2000 and 2017 — a total of $24.3 million, excluding refunds he received after filing. For 2015, he paid $641,931, his first payment of any federal income tax since 2010,” the New York Times reported.
In Trump’s first two years in office, he filed for extensions for taxes on the prior years tax filing and paid estimated taxes on those. For 2016, he paid $1 million, according to the New York Times. The following year, Trump paid $4.2 million when he filed for an extension.
When Trump eventually filed his tax returns for those years, he said his tax liability should have been $750. In other words, Trump was saying he overpaid his taxes. The Times said that Trump was able to reduce his liability by using up tax credits he had earned in connection with the renovation of the Old Post Office in Washington, D.C.
The Times story also says that Trump did not get a refund for the overpayment. He just asked for credits that could be used to reduce future tax bills.
In some earlier years, Trump paid even more in taxes. According to the New York Times, Trump paid $13.3 million in 2008. In 2005 and 2006, he paid a total of $56.9 million.

Problem for Trump on taxes is that he tends to overpromise, as hes done about the deficit he said hed eliminate but greatly increased.

While running for president in 2015, he told Bloomberg he would cut taxes on the middle class but raises them on himself and other rich people: "That's right. That's right. I'm OK with it he said. You've seen my statements, I do very well, I don't mind paying some taxes. That, of course, is not the way things turned out even setting aside the fact that Trump used accounting maneuvers to lower his own federal income taxes in 2017 to $750, according to documents obtained by the New York Times. Hes one slick talker for sure.
