Mercury’s new outboard

Is a V12 600 hp with 2 speed transmission weighing around 1,200 lbs .

That’s approx 100 lbs more than the worlds strongest man can dead lift ....

I’m thinking a bit large for our V boats ...

Obviously this new Merc 600 will be going on big boats, twins instead of quad 300's etc.
Will be interesting....technology presses on so maybe followed by 800 etc......

charlie_the_tuna 02-14-2021 10:46 AM

Yeah. That thing is a BEAST!!!
Starts at $77,000, not including rigging.

bgreene 02-14-2021 03:32 PM

Hah ..... that leaves me out but all my boats and motors bought used except the 9.5 hp Evinrude my dad bought in 1974.....

V20/21 ....of course being a top choice all around low cost rig for people who know what to look for......except for the mild HP rating : )

77,000 dollars does it come with a prop? Not bad why stop there ask for 80.000' go big.

steplift20 02-21-2021 07:34 PM

Let me understand this 77.000 plus a prop, another 800 plus installing it maybe 3000 plus tax plus controls so your talking about 90 grand when it's done? That can't be right who can afford that?

People that don't have to worry about the cost. Billionaires and drug runners. There has to be a market of they wouldn't have developed it in the first place.

Don t forget Government agencies, they will be standing in line to get their hands on them.

Yep. It's not their money so why should they care. :cen:

Take a look at some of the videos of boats going in and out of Haulover Inlet in Florida (Google search for Haulover Inlet videos). Forty and fifty foot boats with four, five, and even six 450Hp motors mounted on them. There is some real money down there - those are the people who will buy them.

I watch haul over inlet boats all the time , they all have 3-----4-------5------ even 6 outboards WTF How much money do people have, I have one older merc, and can't afford to repair that one jeez What jobs or buisnesses do they have , keeping them in the water and fuel --- not me

phatdaddy 03-02-2021 06:35 PM

No state income tax

steplift20 03-12-2021 03:48 PM

Crazy,
Do you know how many times that motor will malfunction? I bet a lot. I love Mercury outboards but yo change the configuration totally have the lower unit prop turn to steer the boat, I predict a lot of recalls ,
