COVID shot ? Just wondering if anybody has got the vaccine yet? I m over 65 so i got my first round of the Moderna bout 10 days ago. No issues so far, second shot in a couple of weeks. Probably more covid in our community now than ever before. Local transmission rate was around 5 percent, but since thanksgiving and christmas, has jumped to around 20 percent. I know there is a lot of controversy over the effectiveness and safety of it, but i have some health issues that make it kinda scary for me. Also know a lot of ya ll are up north, just checking with everyone |

I used to get the flu shot every year, got the flu about every other year. Stopped getting the flu shot 11 years ago, haven't had the flu since. I used to ask my family Dr. if they got the flu shot personally, they would look around to see who was listening and say no, I asked them if their family got the shot same answer. I know there are reports of up to 60% of health care workers refusing the shot unless its required to keep their job |

Hey Phat, I'm the captain in our fire dept, so I got the shot Jan 6. Haven't had any side effects. Got to get my second shot in Feb. My wife and I both had covid about two months ago. We were down sick for about a week, kinda like a short case of the flu. We were lucky. Hope you're all doing well! |

Got my second shot on Wednesday, ran a low grade fever all day Thursday with a dull headache. Feel back to normal today , heard most have a tougher time with second dose. Stay safe everyone |

57 years of age. Had the corona. Not getting the shot. Retiring in about 3 years. I***8217;ll be socially distant from most, as I don***8217;t really care for people. You guys in south Florida... wanna drown some shrimp? I***8217;ll be available for that. I should have a little skiff behind the truck at that point, so name the time and place. |

It seems when I type an apostrophe, it appears as ***8217;. Maybe that’s just how it shows on my end. I don’t know. Odd. |
|
It***8217;s been happening to everyone When i type on the desktop, no issues, but on my iPad it***8217;ll do it everytime |

Update. My engineer went into the hospital on January 20th with the corona. He was gone 3 weeks later. We had worked together for 10-12 years and were planning to spend time together in retirement. His place is in boca and mine in Delray. This is still so surreal to me as we couldn’t see him in the hospital and we couldn’t attend his funeral. It hasn’t changed anything for me regarding the vaccine, but this was my first experience losing somebody close to me. Sucks!!!! |

Next door neighbor's brother died from it 2 weeks ago. (younger than 60) and the lady we bought our house from a few years back passed last week. (less than 50) This thing is real folks and is not to be taken lightly. GET THE DAMN SHOT!! I want to talk to you guys, not about you!!! (Try to get the J&J shot... one shot and done and all reports I've heard so far seem to be saying it has almost no side effects). |

I will not be getting the shot. I dont think there was enough time to get a vaccine out and know the long term affects. And if you do get any issues from the shot its not their fault? I am 42 and in good health. already had covid. Yes it was not fun. Im still trying to figure out why they call it a vaccine when it only lessens the symptoms and you can still give it to other people. Its like calling nyquil a vaccine. My parents are just getting over it. Doc said yeah you have it now go home and wait till you get better. No meds. Dont take this the wrong way, if you are a high risk person you should probably get the shot and stay away from people. And Im sorry for all of the people that lost loved ones. My friends father inlaw pasted away with covid and other conditions. he was my art teacher in middle school. |

Even though your chance of getting Covid after getting the shot is about zero, your can still spread the virus on your hands, clothes, basically anything that you touch. I believe that's what they mean when they talk about you still being able to spread the illness. :head: |
|
They said it lessens the symptoms and you still have to wear a mask so you dont spread it to another person. So its like taking cold medicine for a cold? |

My wife and I were on the fence about getting the shots. We've been ultra careful since the whole thing began, and we're both in good health and late 50s. Honestly probably would have held off but we're going to have to fly to my nephew's wedding next month so when we became eligible we signed up and got the first shot a week ago. Yes, I'm somewhat skeptical but we did it anyway. Lost an acquaintance to it a few weeks ago. He was in his early 60s and in remission for a few years from leukemia. 2 weeks in the hospital and gone. I'm not afraid of dying, but that's a ****ty way to go, not even able to see your loved ones. A good friend's daughter is a nurse in a covid unit at the hospital. Anyone who doubts the seriousness of it should talk to her. |

I agree, laying in a hospital , drowning in your own fluids is not a way to go |

Got my first shot yesterday. Arm hurts a little... other than that no side effects. I get stabbed again on April 29th. |

For me, I'm about a week out from my second Moderna shot. Almost 70 yo with few symptoms for either shot. Got to hug two of my grandkids for the first time in months without them freaking out about how they were going to kill their grandparents. When I was working, I operated the life support equipment you see in all those news clips about the virus. Dying on the ventilator with no family around for comfort or support is not the way I'd like to exit. The vaccine is worth the risk to me. XXL |

Thanks XXL - almost 76 and going today for my 2nd Moderna. The first was a breeze, had to rub my arm the next day to realize that it was a tiny bit sore. I agree, for me the risk reward calculation is a slam dunk. I’ve been hugging my one and only grandson throughout the pandemic and I want to be here for him for a long time. Enjoy those grandkids. |

Vaccine ? ABSOLUTELY !! Got my two Moderna Want to get things back to normal - get vaccine Want to respect the 560,000 dead - get the vaccine Countless sick long haul syndrome- get the vaccine And reduce risk to be a spreader - get the vaccine |

Dr Anthony Fauci …… had devoted his professional life to public health serving multiple Presidents . Why did Fauci change his initial position on a COVID ? Answer ….that’s how science works - as the data came in, the position changed accordingly. Same as a weather watch shifts to a warning. American deaths from COVID. Over 99% are among the NON vaccinated. Booster shots Are being developed in case the vaccine loses effectiveness over time- same as we have with other existing vaccines. Reasons to get the vaccine Overwhelmingly obvious and clear - protects yourself, limits transmission, limits virus ability to mutate, helps life and economy return to normal. Data supports - stop whining, help fight the war on COVID, get the vaccines. Be proud to help protect America |
