So, what s everyone corona plan?

My wife and daughter were supposed to go to Ireland last friday, and that go canceled.
They are off work for spring break next week, and school system extended it for another week. Our game plan is to self isolate to shell island during the day and hang in the backyard at night

We ve had our 3rd foggy morning in May, so spanish should be here next week. Sheepshead are in spawn right now and a few pompano scouts have been caught on the beach. Water temp is about 66 to 68 and warming up.

Stay safe, everyone

Just wondered what others are doing?

Destroyer 03-15-2020 12:53 PM

My Corona plan is to have at least 4, maybe 5 six packs always in the cooler, although it does seem that limes are getting scarce.

Seriously though, since I'm retired I stay home. If I have go out I wear gloves. (Harbor freight is a great source most people don't think about). Remove gloves before I get back in my truck and THROW THEM AWAY, then use hand sanitizer before I touch anything in the truck. Wash hands and face when I get home. (Sing happy birthday to yourself twice if you want to know how long to wash hands). Wash coat every other day. Change clothes when you get home. (Wear clothing that can safely be bleached in the washing machine).

I wish to God that I had a live aboard boat like a Trawler. I'd go live on it out on the water for the next 3 months or so.

2 brand new Suzuki DF200APXW2s are going on the Grady right now.

In a few days I will be self-isolating with a fishing rod in my hand...:sun:

Best plan I've heard yet. Congratz on the new power plants.:clap::clap:

A lot of businesses r closed right now around here. I dont have any work. Going to stay away from people, which is what I normally do anyway! Wife is trying to keep up with my sons skool work. Guess its time to do yard work. Maybe go groundhog hunting.

wellcraftv20step 03-18-2020 03:51 PM

Daughter and son in law just got a 98 year old house 4 blocks from me, needs lots of work, I'm hiding in the 3 car garage building and painting new cabinet doors for their kitchen, it's hard work so I don't expect to see anyone for a good while.:pray2: . Seriously though it is the perfect timeing to be alone ! Best of luck to everyone!!

charlie_the_tuna 03-18-2020 05:24 PM

my corona plan is to do what I always do. i'm gonna go to work and order Chinese food and not buy as much toilet paper as I can. I have 3 rolls under the sink and I figure that oughta hold us for a while. I don't plan on wiping my a$$ any more than I usually do. the busiest commuter railroad in the country has been like a ghost town. trains that usually pack in well over a thousand people don't even see a hundred. oh well, makes my job that much easier. there's been talk of switching over to a weekend schedule. sounds good to me. i'll still get the overtime earnings of my job and i'll get home 2 hours earlier. and THAT is my corona plan.

Pipe_Dream 03-19-2020 09:50 AM

Good to hear from y'all on this.

My 85 year old Mom flew down for a two week visit 10 days ago. She's going to be here longer than that, it looks like. IF she goes home I'll drive her. Not going anywhere near an airport.

My wife's work is gone thanks to the virus, so she's at home with my Mom. I'm still working -- we're a small construction business and I'm normally alone in the office all day anyway, so . . .

My paranoia level is high. Every time I sneeze or cough (pollen is high) I think OH SH*T. More than anything I don't want my Mom to get infected, much less my wife and me. This is crazy.

cfelton 03-23-2020 12:24 AM

Gonna continue working until they shut the steel mill down. Got enough food, gas and supplies to hold us for a good long while. Garden is plowed, limed, tilled and rowed up, ready to plant. Hope to do some social distancing this week, I plan on going fishing. The rock, white perch and speckle perch are biting like crazy now in the Chowan river. Haven't had the boat out in over a year, Its way overdue for a day on the river. Got a 9 day shutdown starting March 29th so I need to get caught up on my long honey do list too. My V is full of gas and ready to go, might clean it up some if I get time. We had a family vacation planned for the last week in May at the Outer Banks but now they've shut down the beach, no entry unless you live there. Hoping I get my 4000.00 dollars back! I hope nobody catches the virus, sounds like a nasty one! Yall take care of yourselves and your families.

Most all familes have a Corona impact situation...….large or small.
No joke this thing so if lucky unscathed..

Fishing on hold pending several issues, but continuing to work on boat related.
Could miss the entire season, no way to know yet.

Too far from the water to just " hop on the boat" and go.
Good luck to all

wellcraftv20step 03-31-2020 06:32 AM

So for the past week my wife won't let me anywhere near my kids house, I was working in the garage minding my own business away from everyone but now that's on hold. My oldest daughter works in Saint Francis operating room every day and my wife is out of her mind about me being anywhere even near the property she walks on .im not going to add to her stress by fighting her. The stress level is so high. We do actually know 5 people with the virus. So I'm just home painting closets , cutting tree branches and trying to do 8 miles a day on the exercise bike!!

randlemanboater 04-11-2020 07:58 AM

Well, my plan was to fish 2 or 3 days a week, but my half time job (3 days one week, 2 days the next) has turned into 4 or 5 days a week because a couple of the older guys decided they were done (I don't blame em) and one guy in the reserves got called up to the Navy.

But so far I have still gotten to go at least one time each week.

oteps 04-11-2020 08:15 AM

THey surprised us here in pa and started trout season a week and a half early so it wasn't crowded. I had my son out twice, he is loves it. There is a small lake we go to that's so packed you normaly cant get a spot to fish. Opening day there were an 1/8th of the people there.
Other than that we are staying home and away from people.

well, I've been forced to amend my corona plan. I went and got the corona. man, this sh!t was INSANE!!!!!!! the sickest I've ever been, without question! even though the trains were almost empty, I managed to catch the dam thing. i'm over it now but it was unbelievable! spent 2 plus weeks on the couch while my AMAZING wife took care of me, in addition to all the other stuff she does. she works in the local high school so thank god, she was off to take care of me. I can see how those with compromised systems aren't making it through this. it's a killer! this Monday will be my first day back at work for a month. it's been nice but time to get back to the grind. since they've gone to a weekend schedule, i'll be losing a few hours overtime a week. also wont be able to work my days off, since the overtime has pretty much dried up. my earnings are gonna suffer this year but DAM!!! I made it through the corona. I hope all you clowns are staying healthy and safe.

randlemanboater 04-22-2020 01:24 PM

Glad you recovered CTT.

Just curious, did anyone else in your house get it?

Very happy you're still with us Charlie. Happy to talk to you rather than about you. A lot is still not known about this virus, including if people that already had it can get it again, so stay safe and act like you've never had it and need to take all precautions. Gloves and masks are still a must. :head:

phatdaddy 04-22-2020 06:34 PM

Like i said, I been thinking bout you yankee boys. Glad you made it through CTT. Good news is, hopefully you have the anti-bodies now and some form of natural immunity. They are thinking about opening our beaches on a limited basis, biggest fear is everyone who owns a condo will flock down and bring cooties with them. So far we’ve had about 60 cases and 2 deaths in a county of around 200,000. Not expecting our peak until May 5. My wife is running a call center for a local health provider with the capability of 50 test a day, but are only at 20-25 a day so far. Next week they will be getting the rapid test, so that number will go up.

I glove up and wear a mask when away from the house, hope everyone is doing the same

Blue_Runner 04-23-2020 08:52 AM

Damn Charlie hate to hear that but happy to hear you pulled through it! Both my daughter and myself were sick with flu like symptoms in mid Feb. They kept saying my daughter had bronchitis and at one point said she had pneumonia. I really suspect she may have had it. There's a chance I did as well. We may never know.

Blue_Runner 04-24-2020 07:31 AM

CTT Forgot to ask - did you lose taste and smell? Reason I ask is because back in Feb when I was sick I had loss of taste and smell. That was before I knew anything about that symptom being a marker for the virus. Probably just a coincidence.

oteps 04-25-2020 07:20 PM

I had something late October. Very bad cough, out of breath, fever and very tired. I would wake up in the middle of the night and cough so bad I almost couldn't breath. I hate doctors and don't believe them so I didn't go, plus I wont take any medicine. It lasted for about 3 weeks but the cough stayed till around Christmas. If I would laugh I would start coughing. my wife and son got it and went to the doctor, said it was a cold, gave them prednisone. My dad got it and his doc said it was a viral infection and gave him an antibiotic. I think it was here way before anyone knew about it.

charlie_the_tuna 04-30-2020 12:07 PM

randle, nope. just me. I don't know how, unless they were affected in a different way. they say it hits everybody differently. my wife is a beast so if she did have it, she could have carried me on her back while doing laundry and push starting a car, while on the stairmaster.

spareparts 05-02-2020 09:47 AM

good the hear you've got it beat Charlie.
Not much different don here, traffic has been light, but the boat business has been wide open. I'm booking three weeks out right now. Oh yea, I bought another boat last week

charlie_the_tuna 05-04-2020 06:29 AM

hey Blue, yeah, I lost taste and smell. not only that, I haven't fully recovered my sense of smell back. it's almost like I now have about 40% of my sense of smell back.

randlemanboater 05-04-2020 06:49 AM

CTT, it is wild how this virus affects people so differently.

I would be willing to bet that everyone in your house had it but didn't show any symptoms...of course unless they get tested for antibodies you will never know.

randlemanboater 05-04-2020 06:52 AM

Spare,

What boat did you get?

A friend of mine is looking for a new to him boat and they keep selling with in hours of being listed for sale...it makes no sense to me.

Meanwhile car dealers are deeply discounting new cars and giving free financing for 84 months because no one is buying cars.

I picked up a 17 Sea Hunt with a 150 Johnson eagle series 2 stroke on it, got it so cheap I coulnt turn it down. I'm going to go thru teh carbs, new water pump and fuel system and leave it at the house in Sneads Ferry for the summer. As much as i hate to say it I m thinking about selling the V, just dont have the time to do any involved projects. I own four boats now. 99 Sea Ray 210 that once I get back together will be for sale, 81 V20,85 175 Bumble Bee bass boat, that depending on my daughters attitude towards bass fishing, may be for sale, and The 17 Sea Hunt. Had to give the Sea Hunt a name, as I commonly refer to them by a name I cant repeat around the wife or kids :cen:, figured I'd call it the Sea-Rona . And yes, people are buying boats like crazy around here, I could easily flip this ea hunt and make some cash, but I'm going to hold on to it for the season at least.

Destroyer 05-05-2020 01:39 AM

My guess is a lot of people are beginning to realize that fishing may be the only fresh meat that they can get due to all the packing houses closing. (I know the President ordered them open, but times and things change). Fishing is still a great way to provide for your family.

Used boats are going fast because they are so much cheaper.

oteps 05-07-2020 10:51 AM

I would probably starve if I had to rely on the fish I catch! I started buying beef from a friend. He raises them and takes them to a local butcher shop to be processed. I try not to buy mystery meat from big grocery stores. And we have a bunch of other local butcher shops around. My aunt lives in virginia and when she comes up to visit she always stops at the butcher. Says there aren't any down there.

starting to see a lot of small butcher shops coming back, allways good to support the small business. My local one closed down about a year ago, went to the other shop across town and they were slammed
