Hey!!!!!
Wake up people!!! This forum site ONLY works when people contribute to it. Many days I log in only to fine that there have been no posts from anyone. I know that we all have lives to lice, but if you want to see this site continue then please remember that it's an "interactive" site, meaning that we all need to make comments, all the time. It takes less than a minute to log in, do a quick scan, and make a comment when appropriate. Tell us allk what you're doing, or not doing for that matter. It doesn't always have to be about our beloved V20's. It can be about health, finances, love life... hell, the sky's the limit. But just sitting there and waiting for someone else to say something is a sure way towards seeing this site eventually close due to lack of contributions.

Amen brother this is the first site I go to when I need to find out about a repair question, and don't forget about our love for wellcrafts.

|
I ll chime in also.
It has been kinda slow, but Like D said, we all have lives to lice. |

I could report that I'm not having any issues with the Pipe Dream, but that would be tempting fate, wouldn't it? :zip: |
been too busy fixing other peoples junk, I haven't touch my V in a long time, I need to get back on it. Right now I own 4 boats, none of them run:cry:
|
Okay, I'll pitch in. I log in almost every day but rarely post. My V20 is a project I've had little time to work on but hope springs eternal. May have a few more nice boating days before winter sets in here in far Eastern Oregon. Fall Crappie bite is sometimes good in the Snake River.
|
Hey XXL - where in eastern Oregon are you? I’m in the Portland area and fishing has been so lousy here for a few years that I haven’t even had the V on the river. I love the eastern parts of Oregon and Washington - lived in Yakima some and for several years in Ellensburg. I don’t suppose you do any hunting in that open country do you?
Thanks Destroyer for giving the group a poke - I always log in when I hit the sack to see what everyone’s up to and was disappointed when there was nothing for two nights in a row. I post when I think I have something to contribute but that’s not all that often. |
I've been on here mutiple times per day since i joined Saturday, just reading and learning as much as possible about my new toy.

Welcome to the site Sangster :) What kind of v20 do you have? (We love boat porn around here) :hi:

For instance, I made another 9" deep dish apple pie yesterday. (I've been searching for the ultimate apple pie recipe for a long time, experimenting constantly. Too much sugar, not enough sugar, needs more Cinnamon, less Tapioca, etc etc..) Not really important, but it tasted great and it's almost gone today. I'd be happy to share the recipe with anyone that want's to try it. (see, not very important, but perhaps interesting to some.) :head: |
I don't want the recipe, just send me the pie.
|
You’re right D - it is nice to just exchange some chat. I think apple selection is a pretty important variable in both the flavor and mouth feel of a pie and also dictates somewhat the amount if sugar that’s appropriate. I admit I don’t know squat about making pies but my wife is a superb cook and makes fantastic crusts, so I suppose I’m partial to not so deep dish pies to maintain my preferred filling to crust ratio. That being said, I’ll take the recipe and run it by her.
I’m in bed getting ready to sleep and this is making me really hungry for some apple pie - I need to quit talking about it. |
Yeah D is right! I know I've been busy lately. My youngest daughter had a baby, baby coded for 20 minutes. Scared all of us to death. All is good with her now after spending two weeks in CHKD. One of my son in laws has a failed liver and we almost lost him twice lately. And the last 14 days I've worked shutdown at the steel mill 12 1/2 hours a day, 7days and 6 nights, got one more night to go. Between all that and cutting grass, working on the house and the garden, I haven't even taken my boat out the whole summer. I always thought you had more time to do what you want when you hit 60, that aint so! Hope you fellas are all doing good!

YIKE on the long shift at the mill!!!! I completely understand about the lack of boating. It happens too often to me, but I hang in there and hope for the day(s) to come when I can feel the water under her and taste the salt on my lips again as we head out to battle. Red sky's at night :) |

(Right now I am partial to a 3-1 ratio of 3 Granny Smith to 1 Macintosh apples) I find the Macintosh gives it just the right amount to tang to taste 1/2 cup milk (whole, not 2%) 1 Tsp Vanilla 1/2 cup white sugar (you can substitute 1/4 cup white and 1/4 cup brown) 1 Tsp Cinnamon (heaping) 1/4 Tsp Nutmeg 3 Tbls Tapioca (I like this but some ppl don't. It can be omitted if so desired) Peal, core and slice apples in a large bowl. Combine all ingredients in a smaller bowl, whisk them together until well blended, then pour the mixture over the sliced apples and toss them until they are fully coated. Let them sit while you prepare the pie dish with your dough, then layer them in the prepared pie plate, pour any left over liquid over them, cover with second piece of dough, slit top and bake. 400* for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350* and bake an additional 45-50 minutes. Cool and enjoy  |
That apple pie sounds delicious! My wife made apple and peach cobbler a week ago, It was great. She made pumpkin fudge with chopped pecans today for all of us working tonight, wow its great. You need a glass of milk to chase it, its really rich. Tonight is my 14th shift and last night, get 4 days off now. Made some good money but about wore my old a$$ out. Hopefully I can take the old Boneshaker out this coming week. I really miss riding the river!

Thanks D - we’re off on a vacation for most of October but will run this by the “chef” and see what comes of it when we get back.
|
Well I had another good summer with Amanda. Sad to say winter is coming for me and took Amanda out of the water over the weekend. Me and my crew won the big fish in the Redrockfish derby in June. $1000 for the big fish and $1000 from Garmin for having there equipment mounted on the boat. Lake Superior salmon fishing up here this year was so so but still fun. A few sundowners up the Kam River with the wife was also relaxing. All and all good summer.

See what you started destroyer and let me tell you something ,,,I LOVE IT

I’ll do that D. The reason for the delay in trying your recipe (which she said sounded unique and interesting) is that we’re on a much needed vacation. After being up more than 24 hours and a 4 and 10 hour flight, I’m dog screaming tired and writing this before dozing off in Rome.
It’s the weirdest thing - there are all these people here who look just like folks you’d see in any big American city but they’re all speaking Italian. Fortunately for us many do speak reasonable English and for emergencies, I have Google translator on my phone now. Anyway, we’ll be here most of the month, see Rome, Florence, Venice and Cinque Terra, five little towns tucked up in the cliffs along the coast where I hope to have a peaceful recovery from all the big city museums, etc. and maybe meet some of the fishermen who work the ocean in old wooden boats. |

I highly recommend Pisa, (The tower is cool, but the cathedral right next to it is breathtaking) and Naples if you have the chance. And Mt Vesuvius is a MUST see. |

We just ended September with 29 days of temperatures at 90 degrees or above. We did have one day where the daily high was only 88 degrees. This beat the old September record of 28 days with temperatures over 90 degrees which was set in September 1939.
This is the first summer that I've only taken my 1964 Super Skeeter out because it has just been too hot or hot and windy since the end of May. I take the Skeeter out because it is quick and easy to launch and retrieve but I still end up soaked in sweat doing either one. Forget taking the big boats out when I have to launch and retrieve them by myself. Relief if on the way however. We're finally getting the first fall cold front coming thru tonight taking today's high of 95 degrees down to tomorrow's high of 77 degrees. I'm ready for some cool fall weather crappie fishing! |

It's amazing how much the climate changes from year to year. Some years it's hotter than heck and others it's downright cold. interesting that 1939 was the previous hottest September. That's a long time for a record to stand. :head: |
Well, the cool fall weather blew in last night. It was 91 degrees at 5 p.m. yesterday and 45 degrees this morning. Forecast to be 40 degrees tomorrow morning but light winds. I'll be on the lake at sunup tomorrow morning chasing crappies.
