Good luck down there.
|
Keep your head down Phat. Prayers sent to all brothers and sisters living in it's path. Lot's of rain expected in places already flooded by Florence. :(
|
Hold Fast.
Saying its a Cat 4 now. Praying for ya. |
Good luck, phat. I hate seeing this thing heading for you. And I know exactly what you're saying about the trees. We love our old trees . . .
until a storm comes. Be smart, stay safe. |
Praying for everyone in the path of Michael, hope you were able to get out of there before now Phat!
|
Good luck to all in the path of this storm.
Stay safe. |
phatdaddy and everyone else down there in FL, praying you guys are ok.
|
Any updates from our Fla brothers? :head:
|
Anyone heard from phat?
Been offgrid for about a week. |
Hey guys. I***8217;m still here. Mostly ok. V20 was crushed when an oak tree hit the he boat house. cell service sucks. Will post when I can
Thanks for the good wishes Phatdaddy |
Damn.
Thanks for letting us know you are alive! Prayers and best wishes. |
Awwww.... DAMN!!! :cen: Sorry Phat. Any hope of salvage or is the hull crushed? Time to look for a new boat for Phat guys.
|
Oh man, that's sad news. But glad to hear you're alive!
|
Still getting sorted out. Got power to house after only 12 days. AMAZING considering they had to rebuilt 80 % of the grid. Still can t post picks. No internet. Boat still under shed. Got it stableized. Just working on other stuff. I own four houses here and they were all impacted. Of course only 2 have any insurance.
Leaned a lot of valuable life lessons in the last two weeks |
Glad to hear you are ok Phat.
Sorry to hear about your boat. |
Sorry to hear Phat, glad you're alive.
One day when you get things settled down would love to hear about some of those life lessons. Might help one of us head the next thing off at the pass. Did the shed get the Mercury too or just the hull? If any of us can help let us know. |
I think the motor is fine. Scratched cowling is all I see so far.
Mike Tyson said ,Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth. Well we got punched. I guess the most important lesson is stuff and money can be replaced, so don t worry about them I didn t hear from my son (he went in to work during storm) for 24 hours and my daughter for 48 hours. She lives about 12 miles north of me. The V actually stopped a tree from falling on the house The cap is cracked above the rod box on the starboard side and windshield side panels are broken Gotta cut the building off of the boat like eating an elephant, one bite at a time |
Glad you're all ok! Sorry to hear about the V, hopefully it can be fixed. I know you just spent a lot on it to get it back in shape, maybe you can bring it back again. Wish I lived closer I'd be glad to help! We were lucky it turned and went right around us.

Trying this thru a hotspot on a phone will see how it goes. Verizon screwed up the comms so bad they are giving everyone free data for 3 months.
Got a few more things done today, shore up the legs on the boat shed for the disassembly on friday. I will try to gopro it Still waiting on adjusters for insurance quotes, not forseeing an easy tango. Life is getting back to normal, but lot of uncertainty for the future of Panama City. Expecting a 35-45 percent decrease in population within a year. Which affects property values and taxes. Not to mention viable employment and employers. Both hospitals were severely damaged. The county one was a total loss, the private one is rebuildable. I have friends who work for several doctors offices, the have been told to apply for unemployment. Lots of docs are loosing patients or their offices were compromised and landlords were underinsured on the building. Lot of uncertainty for my little village by the sea On the bright side, if i can get the boat out, fishing is hot right after a storm |
Unfortunately it will be a very long road. Sandy was 6 years ago and along the bay I still see abandoned houses, half raised and then abandoned houses and empty lots. Toms River tax base was devastated. Businesses (like our flower shop) took a big hit for years. Sounds like you didn't get flooded so you got that going for you. Pulling for you and hope to see some grouper trolling pix soon.

And there's talk of changing the building code standards which means even if insurance re-imburses them for a total loss, it won't cover the cost to build to the new standards. I seen alot of this after Charlie went through Punta Gorda back in 04. Many people lost there childhood homes and couldn't afford to rebuild there homes to the new code with the skyrocketing material cost's because of demand.
