Winterizing question

Last year I winterized my Yamaha ox66 by adding all the proper fuel additives and spraying fogging oil by romoving the plugs and rotating the motor. I did not remove the intake and Fog that way. Should I be doing that and if I do should I expect my o2 sensor to be fouled ?

THEFERMANATOR 12-03-2017 04:04 AM

I would fog through the intake if it was mine. That way you get a protective coating on the internal rotating assembly as well as the pistons/rings. You should clean the O2 in the spring, but I wouldn't think fogging it would kill one.

Gotcha Ferm, thanks !

I'm not quite sure myself. I've read about it, but never actually done one.

phatdaddy 12-04-2017 09:16 PM

I winterized mine this week...

Threw my hoodie in the cabin

SkunkBoat 12-04-2017 10:15 PM

Just did my Ox66s. Sprayed some fogger into intakes while running then shut off, removed plugs and sprayed holes, turned over motors, sprayed some more, put plugs back, sprayed everything with WD40, put cover on....see you in April....

bradford 12-05-2017 04:04 AM

Going out tomorrow, gonna be 78.

wellcraftv20step 12-05-2017 05:05 AM

Ok Bradford, it already the worst day of the year for me when I lay up the boat.. you don't have to rub salt in the wound!!!! But Seriously. I used to leave the boat in a few weeks longer but as I get older I don't need to be power washing in the freezing weather.....Skunk, that's precisely what I did last night and then called the shrinkwrap guy. CRAP, I forgot the batteries ..

randlemanboater 12-11-2017 08:22 AM

I guess it's what I get for making fun of you guys winterizing your boats...had a little snow, sleet, freezing rain over the weekend, and now lows in the 20's all week.

We got an inch or two before it turned back to rain and washed it away, just north of here, 25-30 miles, they got 8-10 inches.

I envy you right now bud. Its 30 here in Portland right now with 30mph gorge winds. Your bones hurt when you walk outside. Woodstove is crankin while sipping on some bourbon, Luckily the sturgeon here dont mind so fishing year round is not a problem!

I like that truck

wellcraftv20step 12-11-2017 06:52 PM

That is nice ! Is that a 70 ??

randlemanboater 12-11-2017 07:43 PM

It's a 72. My grandfather bought it in 73, I got it from him in 82 for my first car.

The open area behind it is where I am getting ready to build my garage/shop so I can start a frame off restoration...maybe, I really like using it as a truck.

wellcraftv20step 12-11-2017 08:03 PM

I love it,,,the history is as cool as the truck !

bradford 12-12-2017 11:11 AM

I'd rather have it as a cool clean driver Randleman, always liked those models.

Oh and we paid for that 78 degree day after the front came through, 50s and rain for 3 days. Wore long pants for the second time this season.

X2 Classic in every way. It looks like a pick up truck should look. Business like.

wellcraftv20step 12-16-2017 08:52 PM

randlemanboater 01-17-2018 01:37 PM

Ok, seriously, I promise to never make fun of you guys winterizing for the rest of my life.

According to the Weather Channel over 270,000,000 (270 million) people in the United States are living in below freezing weather right now. Only California and parts of Arizona and New Mexico are above freezing. Next time, think twice before you southern guys laugh at us for winterizing... (We secretly control the weather) MUHAHAHAHAHAHHA :hide:
