For those that want to discuss V21's wonder if we can get a list of owners....

V21 owners that start with "B" are the best. :sun:

Now that V21 owners ID'd..... what do we want to discuss ? Here's a few comments:

1. The transom well - more than strong enough from the factory......fine with 150 hp, also fine with the 200 HO I have on it now. That said, Wellcraft could have linked the well to structure better, which is what I've just done, and recently Destroyer too.
I like the well design.....sometimes we keep bait there as we fish.......

2. Cuddy dry - used to get water dripping in near door when running rough seas with lots of spray. Cut that down to nearly no drips using bow slider cover and caulked some spots.

3. Live well - tell me if you like how it works. I use mine for storing rigs, sinkers, lure boxes et. Just had new pump installed so I plan to test it this year.

4. Fish box - if you stick your head into the box and look up under the upper edge, you'll see some gaps where water can infiltrate. I caulked those gaps so box is more water tight.
It's not easy caulking essentially upside down, but seemed worthwhile.

What else?

5. Extra storage space. - There is an isolated void between the helm and mates seats under the deck. it's there for the taking, just need to cut the deck and install a hatch. Use it for line, batteries, rigs, ... hell, just about anything. Fairly large... I'd guess 3' by 3'. It's as wide as the distance between the seats. In the pic there is a round hatch that is access to the gas tank hoses and fittings. Just in front of that is a stringer. The void starts in front of that stringer and extends just about to the cuddy door where there is another stringer.. God alone knows why Wellcraft never put a hatch there as a selling point. I'm probably going to put a slightly larger hatch in place of the one that's there for better access, but that's a minor thing for another day. Look at this pic of where I put my hatch to see the location better.

Destroyer - thanks for this useful info. I believe ( not sure ) all V21's were constructed the same 93'-96' so this is why I figured helpful to have a specific V21 section. Is that void fully contained ( walled in ) or open to the hull, stringers, etc ?

Chart - in your post are you agreeing with Destroyers reference to a accessible storage void, or reporting your fuel tank is forward - and not in same place ? Just want to be clear. You also have a V21 model boat ? If yes I'll add your name above.

It's been a while since I looked at it. Truthfully I don't remember and the boat is buried under snow right now. I'll check after the melt-off, but if I recall correctly it's fully contained

#6 run a hose from the bottom of rod holders to bilge so foam won't get saturated with water

Great suggestion Redneck. I put rubber pipe caps from Home Despot (http://www.homedepot.com/p/1-1-2-in-...-101/100372302) on the bottom of my rod holders and I use a turkey baster to empty them if they get full. Same idea as the hoses. The idea is to NEVER let your foam get wet. A liquid gallon of water weigh's 8.344 lbs, and I can attest to the fact that I filled (5) 55 gallon drums with water saturated foam when I redid my deck and foam. If even one quarter of that foam was pure water that means I was carrying around an extra 573.65 lb.s of dead weight. (And probably more than that) The performance increase was noticeable. :head:

I put those same caps on my rod holders .....

I ran a hose from my rod holders using reelapeelin's method of rubber bearing buddy cap with hose clamps and thru hull fitting connected to old garden hose.

Right now seriously considering parting with my faithful 2004 Yamaha 150 carbed 2 stroke. She runs great but I've had her 10 years and would like to have a 4 stroke with 2x the fuel economy and range.

Reel.........you probably would get close to 2x the fuel economy...

Also, if your Yami free of corrosion, should sell quickly too.

Those are my thoughts as well.

V21 owners - cuddy bow slider .................

Four screws hold the slider onto the track.....with the lighter additional pull out sliding under the main section.

Installing new screws ( if needed ) can be interesting.......
Unless you want to remove the entire assembly to fit the screws, getting a very short flat head into place, with equally small nut is a bit of a challenge.

Anyone know what I'm referring to ?
After doing this, I've found the minor slider hits on the screw heads, and sometimes gets hung up. So, I plan to remove the screws, remove the washer I used as a spacer ( that's causing the problem), re install and cut off the end of the screw if it's still sticking out too much.......or find a shorter stainless flat head screw and fumble in the small slot to fit on a nut.

Always something you can be working on with a boat.............

V-21 owners - other tips...............

1. Port side transom access- where your oil tank is located.
Under this section is a sealed off void.......
Don't drill a drain hole into the " floor" of this section that the oil tank sits on.......or water will accumulate permanently.....
I have a drain hole, but I keep it plugged, and only check annually to be sure no water is down there. ( narrow vacuum hose to wet vac)

2. Deck plate over fuel tank sensor....
I remove it off season to air, but keep it sealed down with clear silicon during fishing season.
These plastic deck plates can and will leak without sealing.
I believe lucky........seems bone dry in there.......the wood I can see it light colored and looks new.
