Mercruiser I assume? where are you getting the replacement engine from? Make sure to put new manifolds and risers on when you swap it out. Don't cheap out and use car stuff
Yes found 2 350 mercruiser complete & outdrives props & all rebuilt guy had bad luck with rotten boat & cut his losses so i have extra parts
i had to redrill my motor mounts as they were in a different location (4.3-5.7L swap) need a long drill bit...
everything else was relatively easy |
what year model are the engines you acquired?
Welcome aboard Tommy.

90 i believe not vortex

Alpha one drives? You'll need to swap everything...motor, transom plate and drive. Yes, you can swap some of the components to make it work, but youre better off swapping it all. Take the time to rebuild the transom plate while you have it on a bench. Bellows, water tube, shift cable etc..
I have alpha 1 out drive now i kind now i need to replace boots & gaskets but you dont think the 350 mounts like the 305 i have in boat now ?
front motor mounts should be in the same location, or close enough. Rear mounts differ between the older engine/transom plate and the newer engine/transom plate. The exhaust y pipe stays with the transom plate. Keep everything together as a package

Thanks will take some pic i appreciate the advice
