Hurricane prep

Left out Tuesday and headed to my fathers place in Sneads Ferry NC, Picked up around the yard, burned off a buch of trash, got all my tackle out of the house and loaded up the McKee. Went thru the house, grabed anything that I considered important, emtpied the fridge and freezer. My father showed up Wednesday morning. I loaded the sailboats on one trailer and got them secured for the trip back to Raleigh. Left out about noon and headed back to Goose Creek SC(Charleston). Stopped off in Lumberton and bought a bunch of bottled water. Made it back before dark, They had I26 reversed all lanes so I came in the back way. Spent the day securing the shop, fired up the generators, made my last pass thru Walmart and Lowes. We're riding this one out. Doesnt seem to be as bad as expected, but you never know how its going to go, I think the weather reporters ust throw spagaitti at a map and call it a track.

Ferm and Vic?(and all other V guys in Fla) How ya'll getting along down there?

THEFERMANATOR 10-06-2016 08:29 PM

So far alot more rain than initially forecast, but not much else. Tommorrow morning is when it's supposed to be the worst for us.

THEFERMANATOR 10-07-2016 02:27 AM

Hopefully bradford is prepared as it looks like its gonna be nadty his way come Saturday morning. Forecasting 7-11' of storm surge, and he will have weakened, but hes still forecasted to be a cat 2 or 3 and make landfall in that area.

Bradford will just tie all his project boats together and ride it out like an ark. They have some big swing tides in that area anyway, hope it comes thru on the low.

Praying for all you Southern brothers that you come thru this unscathed. Watching the storm closely on the Weather Channel, CNN and a bunch of other TV stations. The poor bastards in Haiti got hammered.. large loss of life. :( Keep your heads down guys. We want to talk with you not about you. :pray2:

blowing pretty good right now, been raining non stop since 8 last night. Center of the eye is about 40 miles South East of us. :rain:

Destroyer 10-08-2016 10:26 AM

Been tracking that storm all last night. Saw several reports from Charleston, knew you were right in the thick of it. Hang in there Dave. If you need anything shout. We'll hear you.

doing pretty good right now. Lost power aaround 11 am, finally got off my *** and fired up teh generator this afternoon, got it running thru the dryer plug to power the house(yes, the main breaker is off). Had one of my pears split and fall over my shed. Cut it up this afternoon. Overall not too bad, could have been a whole lot worse. Ferm? how did you make out? Anyone heard from Vic? Bradford ever check in?

bradford 10-08-2016 07:41 PM

Bradford owes God some favors.

Oh and I've sold off all the projects in the last month or two.

Got three calls about that Chaparral 21 for its trailer as the storm was approaching. Guy that got here first backed up and hitched it up,before even looking at it. Had his boat tied to a dock near Richmond Hill with no way of getting her out of the water, felt bad for him.

BY my count Ferm and Pipe are still unaccounted for, and Tusbaki needs to update us. Glad you and Brad both made it thru ok. Thank you Jesus. :pray2:

THEFERMANATOR 10-09-2016 12:40 AM

I made it through fine, hardly anything made it my way. Only ended up with about 3 inches of rain, and some 40mph gusts. We lucked out big time when he went 60 miles back to the east when he was atill a cat 4.

tsubaki 10-09-2016 06:40 AM

We faired exceptionally well.
Was really worried about Bradford.
That storm came a little more west than projected and 105mph winds. You could hear the gusts sounding much like a jet heading toward you and then thankfully dissipate just before getting to you.
It appeared on the radar and sounded like Wilmington Island was getting its *** handed to her from 2 to 4:30am.

No damage to our houses boats or automobiles. I now own the neighbors 5' caliper evergreen oak, it's in the backyard. Had. To replace 3 shingles on the garage because of it.
That would have been awful if it hit the garage with all of the crap I have piled i it.

The neighbor had several derelict boats stacked next to it. Now the Whaler, aluminum boat and a few small sailboats are a sandwich.
