My V20 CC project
1 Attachment(s)
I'm have been, and plan on doing a lot more, work on my V-20 CC and would like yo post all the build info on here for tips and or just to show interested other folks what I'm doing. I have a LOT of pics! Do most people upload to say google drive then just post the link again as newer pics are added or just upload the things right on the forum here? I started to do that and it seemed like a LONG manual process. Just wondering what most people do.

Well anyway... here's where I'm at so far. I'm having an issue with some pics are out of order. There are some comments next to pics. this probably isn't the best way to share a build / project. It's just uploading pics on this forum is like pulling teeth. very slow for me anyway. fyi anyone can download a pic from this google-drive link and repost here with comments I guess.... gotta be a better way. I'm a boater not a computer tech guy as you can tell :]

Figures... now it seems to upload pics just fine... anyway... if you want to see some comments on the pics on google click the i . PS I'm a firm believer in Murphy's law... so... since I've gone to all this trouble that means nobody will ever GAS... lol O-well good way for me to catalog what I did. My memory isn't getting any better.

I use Photobucket to post picture not that it's best way to do it.
Nice looking boat. Love the boat barn. That's sweet! Thanks for sharing your pictures. |
The forum pre-dates Google Drive but that is a good way. maybe I'll start doing that? Another way is to use Photobucket and post the links which show the pic in your post. (I need to experiment, maybe you can do the same with google drive).
Nice boat...NICER shed!!!! Tell me you built that so you could work on your boat.... How did you like Seacast? Looks kind of thick. Did you have to use a vacuum bag? I used CarbonCore, pours nicely,no gaps. A couple questions/comments, since you asked.. I see a fuel filter and a pump ball inside the cap mounted on transom. When you go to change that filter you will get gas in your bilge. I would suggest mount the filter outside in the motorwell and use the Racor 3227 with the plastic bottom that drains. Then you can see if there is water in there and you can drain the filter before removing it. The best position of the pump ball should be outside between the filter and the motor with the arrow pointed UP at the motor. The fuse block is nice but those are pretty light gauge feed wires considering you have three 30 amp fuses, a 20 and a 7.5. Can't wait to see fish pictures.... |
Testing Google links.....it works. You can right click, Copy Image Address, then post as an image in the forum.

re-shed - yes... I got the boat,,, then I decided I added the pole barn... and I'm not even done with it and right back to working on the boat! my 3rd boat btw the wife is thrilled of course. ha opps re- fuel / water separator ... I agree and knew it would eventually be a bit awkward replacing it but... decided I'd prefer the out of the way benefit. Thinking I'll cut a gallon jug in 1/2 and get it under there with a drop cloth when the time comes. re- gas bulb hmmm yea I wondered about that. I did get the arrow 'up'. I was surprised the trouble I had getting er primed guess it should have been opposite the filter eh? re- panel?? Thanks I'll have to look at that further. I can't think why I have any 30's or 20's... That's what the fuse said in the pic? I'll have to look again myself. I did this winter buy a 35 amp 'breaker' I'm going to install back at the battery switch so the feed t the CC is fused. off topic but my dad down in Marathon had his 26 foot CC catch on fire!!! It's was definitely a wiring issue. he was damn lucky a guy across the canel saw it and the fire department got it out fast. But it meant all new 'everything'. So I'm all about doing what it takes to get that right. That's why I decided on the 35 amp breaker. I bet there's a lot of panels out there fed straight off the batt. The finished boat will be aways off... kids ... work ... boats at cottage 100 miles away etc. Can't wait though. Last summer I took the boat from Port Sanilac Michigan to Stokes Bay Ontario and back. Awesome boat and engine combo. Would love to figure out a way to get a bit more protected from air flow.. like maybe a cover just over the front. I've done a bit of sewing. Not to get way OT but here's some pics of another boat I have I have for sale with more GD pics... took me ALL SUMMER to sew up the top and seats. Now I know why they want thousands. |

Off topic... sorry But this is my other boat I sewed up the top and seats for... wow... what a LOT of work!! If anybody knows of a good classified url for a searay please let me know. I'll keep it on V20 topic now. If anybody knows of a CC with a cover over the front and if that works well I'd like to know. That could get sewed up a lot easier than a top.

Good looking boat.
Do yourself a favor and get some boat stands so you don't kill yourself. |
I was thinking the same thing - very scary seeing him under the boat with 2 x 4's and some rope rigging supporting the rear of the boat.

Got more done over the last 3-4 weekends. Bottom is finished stripped and painted with clear. I think when I now rub out the sides it should match up to the clear bottom gloss or real close anyway. Gotta be a major improvement in speed and milage that old bottom paint was nasty. Also got the transom repair cap done and the engine back on. Getting close to hitting the ramp!! And check the decal for the sides. I uploaded a lot of pics to that google drive folder. Here's a few. Also more pics and details of the actual bottom paint removal and re-paint job here http://wellcraftv20.com/community/sh...210#post227210

Have to disagree with skunk about the fuel filter, those filters will rust like nobody's business is you put it in the well, it's not rocket science to change one out without spilling. It is a pain to work on in those hatches, but I think it's the way to go.

Finally got it in the water. very happy with that paint I put on the bottom I gained 3-5 mph getting just a hair under 50mph. But the real blessing will be less engine load so better fuel economy. Next project is rubbing it out and a nice big decal on the side.
