Re: Speaking of Seadrives

like the boat alot but one thing i don't like that would be hard to fix. Why would any boat mfg. built a 24 ft boat in 1988 that was only 7 and half foot wide ??? I'd want it 8 and half foot. avg. retail is $6,150 currently

maybe the seller doesn't know the correct specs.

Here's a 26' Spacecraft CC w/8.5' beam, so the ad says.

Re: Speaking of Seadrives

Look at the evinrude in Tinman's link above this post it is on the same type of bracket as a seadrive. Are those brackets still made?

so what is the difference between a 225 OMC and a 225 evinrude.

thanks

Re: Speaking of Seadrives

that was a seadrive bracket and back then there was no difference. you could hang your evinrude or johnson on your seadrive bracket because they were all made by omc at the time. now, its a bit different. and no, thank god, they are not still made.

the midsection is the difference you could take the power head and the lower unit off and buy a 25 inch midsection for the power head you have be it looper V4, V6 or crossflow V4.

Re: Speaking of Seadrives

From the ones I've seen in boat yards it appeared that the mid section was diiferent and they were dedicated units for sea drive only, could not use the whole motor on anything else. You could take off the power head and lower unit and use them on similar regular outboards. At least that is what I have been told over the years, and I think what you are calling a bracket is actually the sea drive mount and system itself. It was the first of its kind but had limitations. The brackets we are referring to are made by Stainless Marine, Armstrong and others and are a diiferent animal altogether.
