Charleston 2016 get together.

So my wife and I were discussing how much fun we had the last time we all went down there. We decided it's time to start planning another one. I ran it past the guys yesterday and they all agreed. So I'm just putting it out there for everyone to start thinking about it. I figure sometime in March unless there is a better time. I just need to wait for my tax refund to come in and I'll be good to go.

lumberslinger178 08-16-2015 08:12 PM

I had a broken leg the last trip but this time Im soooo in ... I know my wife wont go because of school and dosent want to piss off chris Christy an all by taking off ..... haha

bradford 08-17-2015 01:29 PM

Something to think about is not having it on St. Patrick's Day weekend. It's a pretty big deal in Savannah and the reason I couldn't make the last one.

Had to pass out beer.

Not to mention the crazy traffic getting out of town.

Don't know what y'all think, but the weather in April is usually a lot more predictable/better.

spareparts 08-17-2015 06:42 PM

like I mentiod last time, theres a ton of stuff to do around here, if any of ya'll are coming from long distance, make it worth your while and plan to spend more than a weekend here if posible.

BTW, I'll have trailer/boat storage available at my shop

twhrider2 08-17-2015 07:25 PM

Sounds like a winner....Definitley interested :sly:

I'm thinking of making a 4 day weekend of it. Friday March 25 to Monday the 28th.

Those dates work for me....kids and wife are on spring break so will make it a family trip.

spareparts 08-19-2015 07:27 PM

just so ya'll know, weather during March can be tricky. I've seen it as hot as summer and as cold as January. Usually it blows the hole month, but this past March it was pretty tame.

captpete13 08-19-2015 07:40 PM

Any way I look at it. It's gonna be better there than here in NJ. But I'm open to suggestions. That's mostly why I posted so early. We got lucky last time. Hopefully we can do it again.

good point.

What ever weekend it is, do not plan on coming the weekend of the bridge run(April 2). There are several other festivals the same weekend and you can't find a hotel within 50 miles of here. It also marks the beginning of tourist season( rates go up). April 14th -17th is race week and you won't be able to find a hotel near the water or with parking for a boat. It is pretty neat that week, there are sail boats everywhere, but the harbor gets crowded at times. Anytime after that, its just its normal tourist crowds.

Right now pencil me in for storing my boat at your place Spare, I just have to get me something more reliable for towing. But hope to have that done by then.

This time the wife is coming so it should be fun, Sorry to Willy and OZ we wont be sharing a room together this time like in NJ. I know ya'll (and I ) will miss the conversations. BTW have anyone seen a Crackle lately. :zip:

any more ideas on a date? I'm open for about anytime.

the daydreamer 09-28-2015 06:56 AM

I would rather do it when we know it will be warm on the water. Have been down the icw in march with it 72 on land and we were wraped up in coats and blankets!!!!!!!!!!!on the water about frose going to southport.

lumberslinger178 09-29-2015 06:26 PM

I like the sound of april sometime.....

captpete13 10-07-2015 06:59 PM

It would have to be the first half of April for it to work for me. We start getting busy at work by the end of April.

I think it was a Holiday Inn Express. It was in Mount Pleasant.

speaking of which, do yall have anything in particular you want to do while you're here? we can run up the Cooper River on Staturday, eat at The Dock Resturant in Monks Corner for lunch. We could go thur the locks into the lake. About 45 miles from Sea Breeze Marina to the locks. If you plan on fishing during this trip, you will need both fresh and salt water liscense.

If the weather is calm, there are plenty of nearshore fishing spots or just a free for all and meet up at some time. I hate to say it, but I lost my oyster conection and they are getting $75 a bushel for local oysters this season

Does our NJ Saltwater license cover SC's requirements? and also, I don't need a fresh water license in NJ due to my "advanced" age. (NO License required for freshwater over age 70) Does that also hold true for SC?

spareparts 01-22-2016 09:09 AM

good question, SC allows seinors to purchase lifetime fishing liscense for $9, I don't know if its applicable to out of state though, normally, you will need to have a out of state fishing liscense, $11 for 14 day fresh water out of state, $11 for14 day salt water out of state
