captpete13 02-19-2015 07:11 PM

I'm counting the days.

phatdaddy 02-19-2015 09:37 PM

st patricks day kicks it off for us
should be seeing squid soon
water temp is 58*

jamesbalog 02-20-2015 11:32 AM

id like to be fishing here in ohio in a month but mother nature seems to be vetoing that one.... Erie is close to 100% covered in ice

SkunkBoat 02-20-2015 11:03 PM

I wish it was 8 weeks but more realistic it is 12 weeks.
except for a 2 winter flounder limit beginning in March, there ain't nothing to catch til mid May stripers arrive in numbers.
Water temp at Ambrose buoy is 36 degrees.
I'm just looking forward to some warm weather to get the boat ready

bgreene 02-20-2015 11:35 PM

Stripers in Raritan on clam and trolled plugs usually by mid April......maybe later this year due to the cold water but we'll see !

Striper80 02-21-2015 10:44 PM

Can't wait. I'm finally going to be back at AHMM for the first season since before Sandy.

Nice ........... you'll be in great position for the ocean and bay fishing.

A ReelCool Chick 02-26-2015 04:44 PM

And we just got 7" of snow....yay me.

SkunkBoat 02-28-2015 09:00 PM

Well, there were ice boats sailing out on the Toms River and Barnegat Bay today. It is a rare winter where that happens...if that gives you any idea of how cold it has been. Usually they are up in the mountain lakes not on salt bays.

garbubba 03-01-2015 09:19 AM

Any day now I'll start hearing Lemonfish reports.

phatdaddy 03-01-2015 04:47 PM

weird how they show up to the west first. ( i guess your talking about ling or cobia) i have always heard they migrate up from south fl. to us seems like mobile, pcola, and destin get a visit before we do.

When Phatdaddy posts up some new spanish mackerel pics is when winter is just about over.

phatdaddy 03-02-2015 08:47 AM

the old timers say the spanish arrive around the third foggy day in march
today was day #1

planning on trying to go on wed

SkunkBoat 03-02-2015 03:38 PM

thats funny...stripers arrive here about 3rd foggy day in May.

phatdaddy 03-04-2015 05:16 PM

third foggy day produced this little guy. water still dirty and temp @ 60*. this was the only thing we caught in 2 .5 hours of trolling. depending how cold this next front is, still got a couple of weeks to go
