It's " sleepy time for my V21 "
Yesterday was end of season V fishing trip here in New Jersey, so today, emptied the boat of all gear, opened the hatches and cuddy electronics door to ventilate through the winter.
Boat hibernates under a bungee'd tarp and etec winterizing is simple. Going to repack trailer wheel bearings and I usually siphon off most remaining stabilized fuel from the tank. A good season, and really enjoying the V. |
Good job. Here's looking forward to next year.
|
Thanks D, good luck through the winter and for next year.
|
Put mine to sleep yesterday also.....
|
:nice:GOING OUT IN MINE TODAY! WEATHER WILL BE 70 ON THE FIRST DAY OF DEC!!!!!! SOMEBODYS GOT TO DO IT!!!!!!!!!
|
What is this putting them to sleep stuff? Isn't that what you do when you condemn a boat to the landfill?

My V21 enjoys restful winter along side my home, covered but with air circulation, clean, empty of contents, and dry. Sure, I stop go over to see it frequently.........." hello V21 and Etec 200 HO outboard." And I'll do some assorted work on it here and there. It's a collectors item, and as some of you may know, likely worth $ 100,000 or more because Wellcraft produced only from 93-96. Few truely in excellent condition remain today. |
Fired mine up in the yard yesterday, been too busy to go out, might try for tomorrow though, gonna be in the 70's.
That etec sure is quiet compared to the tohatsu. |

This past trip ( last ) Saturday it started around 26 degrees but warmed to around 40. Stripers prefer water temps in the 50's so now for me, I'm done striper fishing. |

Up here its been over! But not only that they have screwed with all the limts with more to come! No Cod for 6 months, then wait and see the limts? Haddock is like 3 fish, and pollock is also getting cut. Also there will be no fishing for the later while the Cod is closed so to stop hooking other ground fish by mistake. Striped Bass is going to 1 fish this year. Still waitting on the new Fluke limts?
I miss boating and fishing so much, but glad if I had to stop, it was at the right time to get out!! Oh and did I say it was 38* for today's high!! |
i've heard of places where water freezes in the air, but i never thought they were real
you guys are tough |
what are performance numbers with the 150 and 200 etecs?

Mid 90's 150 was strong.......likely 165 hp at the prop. Ran my V21 to maybe 38-40mph WOT 2005 Etec 200 HO is powerful......also more than 200 prop HP. Pushes the V21 to 50mph trimmed and very light, otherwise 47-49mph. The other benefits are MANY...... Instant starting - every time, and immediately idles smooth, quiet. No smoke Purrs quietly at 3,500 - 4,000 rpm, the range I usually run which is mid 20's to 30knots. Sips oil, easy on fuel, probably burns less fuel than the 150 did. |

I topped her out once, I think it was low to mid 40s MPH Cruise at 31 MPH at around 4400 RPM Turning a 14 1/4 X 17P Solas stainless prop. Awesome fuel consumption and it will scare you how little oil it uses. I love the 150 and its a great match for the V-20, but if I were to do it again I'd hang a 200 just because I like a little more top end cruising speed sometimes. I have a 19P prop I could use, but I love the 17 when idling and manuvering around docks etc. The ETECs idle at 500 RPM. I'm trying to sell off all my junk to hang a 90 ETEC on my Carolina Skiff. Right now my skiff with a 90 two stroke Tohatsu burns about as much as the V-20 with a whole lot less hull weight, only 12 gallons of fuel versus 55 gallons in the V-20, and much more efficient hydrodynamics. |
