The Hunting thread! I thought Id start one for us to share out stories this season! Bow season opens in two weeks here so Im yet to "hunt" but been getting a lot of time in the woods. Planting, hanging stands, etc... I seen a bunch of deer on our fields Friday when I got to the lease. Didn't disturb them just check cameras and such. I managed to get two turkey egg killing bastages out of the way. 427 more to go. http://i.imgur.com/9sWIugwl.jpg This year looks really promising from photos and encounters with deer and turkeys so far. This is a new lease Ive got with two buddies and we are all pretty pumped. One is my best friend and the other is a close friend of ours also. We are the only 3 on the 400 acres and theres about 2000 acres of rarely hunted national forest around us. Praying for a great year and hope all yall have one as well! Runs Oct 25th to Feb 10 here, come on cold weather! |

Nice work bro! Lookin forward to the pics!! |
Well it was a great opening weekend. We seen tons of deer and turkeys but none in bow range. Heading back up friday afternoon so wish us luck. Ill try and take some more pics next weekend. http://i.imgur.com/LQheuHGl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/xrA4p6gl.jpg Was so nice to sit in the woods and see the sun come up again!! http://i.imgur.com/jrqiFqEl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mErivfzl.jpg |

Good luck!! My new Bear is in the mail as we speak....Guess I can join the brotherhood now huh?! My old PSE has the same sight as yours I kinda wish the new one did as well vs. this 5-pin.....It can be a little tricky on an approaching victim but man is it easy to line up w/o all the crap in the way.... |
I love the HHA single pin and wont ever go back. I regularly practice to 85 yards and its spot on. What new Bear are you getting?? |

My buddy was sponsored by Bear for several years and said you cant go wrong with any model so Im givin it a shot. |
You wont regret it. I shot all the big names before I bought my Attack (the flag ship 5 years ago when I got it) and walked away with a Bear. Its the most dead in the hand bow Ive ever owned and deadly quiet. My last 4 bows have been Bear. Their customer service is amazing as well. Just had the second set of limbs put on mine due to Bass pro shops' "tech" messing them up. Bear handled it no questioned asked. |

1 Attachment(s) One down, one to go...... My buddy put this one down the other day....thats 1/2 of our current population. If I hadnt missed the other during Bow Season we'd be done with em but maybe now its got the hint..... |

Sired Im not doubting you know your property well but are you sure on the count? Yotes are THICK here. |
Yea, these are the "dumb" yotes. I get others that show up from time to time that run the swamp edge but they dont hang around like these are/were. We have a large generation of Poults runnin around right now and thats what they were keen on and couldnt leave them alone. Before we finally caught up with the one they had killed two poults and one fawn........unacceptable behavior. I dont mind a passerby but just dont hang around and start killin off my game. |
I gotcha, didnt know how thick they were there. There are pretty bad here in certain places. This weekend was nice as far as weather, seen a few deer but out of range as usual. Its taking some time to learn this new property and key in on deer without getting too close and getting busted. Friday evening from a blind I sat up on the gas line in a food plot. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ps42ad5230.jpg This was a spot I hunted saturday overlooking a swamp crossing. I really like swamps and its ate up with tracks from them skirting the edge of it. http://i.imgur.com/lJrgG40l.jpg Rifle season is a couple weeks out here and the nannies will start dropping for sure but I really hope to stick one with an arrow before then. |
Nice man! Yea I like the swamp edge as well and here in south GA we got some for sure!! I also like were the hardwoods meet the pines. In the meantime, feast your eyes on this guy Ive been chasin. Hes dodged me by an hour one morning, slipped behind a tree the next and ran out behind me so fast that I couldnt chamber a round fast enough or realize Id pee'd a little when it happened.... almost a perfect trailcam video..... http://youtu.be/obV-Czn5obc |

Nice! He aint happy about something. :sly: |

Well it took me a few weeks but I finally got keyed in on the deer movement a little better. Seen about 10 saturday between daylight and 12. I made my move around 130 to get closer to where they were crossing in a food plot. It paid off and smoked a nannerhead at 48 yards about 4pm. Not a huge one but the only one in range. Gun opens next weekend so there will be some bodies on the ground by 8am on the 21st. Here my doe, she was only about 70lbs but fine eating. http://i.imgur.com/sZwRkSKl.jpg I also decided after hearing some good things to try the heart for the first time. I slow cooked it with some tenderloin last night and other than the texture I swear you couldnt tell a difference. It was awesome. I cant believe I been throwing them out all my life! http://i.imgur.com/LE3mj47l.jpg |

Man that looks good brotha! Might have to try it.... Congrats on the takedown. Things have slow down a little here but will pick up again when the twmps drop a bit. Still mid 70's here.... |

Nice to se you boys putting a hurting on nuisance coyotes I haven't been out for them yet. My buddy Steve got himself a nice buck with his late grandfathers rifle. That poor buck almost walked over top of Steve if it wasn't for a 30-06 165Gr accu bond he might have. The buck just came walking down his scrape line Steve crouched down behind a willow bush and watched him walk up to 15 yards. Kalum and I got a big cow moose last Saturday the boy was extremely excited he spotted it and my 270 130Gr Barns xxx finished it. He has been telling everyone about it if they wanted to hear it or not lol. It was about a 140 yard head shot down a overgrown cut line. Had another great father son day for him to remember. http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/...ps16c56296.jpg 4-5 year old cow moose http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/...pse7697c0a.jpg |

Very nice!! That first buck had some character in that bone.... I couldnt imagine havin to drag one of those moose out, man that looks like some work!! |
That moose was a big cow and damn heavy. I'm prepared to deal with them (have to be) got 500' of rope in the truck and two come alongs. I shot her down a cut line run some rope out to get drop out the insides hook up and out she came. Pulled her to the top of the berm backed down into the ditch dropped the tailgate and run out the come along and she slid right in. Best part was my buddy lives 5 miles down the road backed into his shop onto the chain fall no lifting again Yea!!!! Yea norms buck is a typical nasty looking Alberta bush buck. It scored 147" One more elk to get starting on the 20th pics to fallow. |
Looks a bit chilly, but def some beautiful country ya got there Redneck. Kalum looks like he makes a good partner. Yall make sure you print off some of these pics and not just leave them on your phone or camera. Another 30-50 years from now your kids will treasure them. |

3 Attachment(s) Pics from the last duck hunts..... |

Those are some sharp looking ducks and a nice bag of em what kind are they? The Elk hunting never panned out as planned I missed a few of them only to find my scope mounts were loose and was shooting all over the place $&@%. Im getting rid of the leupolds and putting on tallies this spring. I went from head shot dad to can't hit shat. With the warm January were having the elk never showed up in the numbers like they should have not an excuse but wiered its +9c here today should be at least -20c. |
