Anyone have pics to post of dual battery's set up in the console ?

Thinking about doing mine - moving the single battery from the transom compartment, up to the cuddy. Set one up for starting, the other for all electronics, lights, pumps and a switch for either and " both " in case I need extra starting juice.

I have an idea going so far to avoid most visible wires and securing the dual batteries.

This is on my list of things to do too! I hope someone posts some pics. I bet Destroyer has 2 or 3 batteries in his V21.

No, I don't have a dual bat system yet. It's one of my "to-do" projects. I already have the dual battery switch wired in, now I just have to run the cables, etc for the new location. I'm going to put mine right where I put the new hatch in the deck. (Just about even with the pilots chair, in the center of the deck). Seems a perfect place for me. It removes some weight from the rear and re-positions it in the middle of the hull. Can't think of a better place, just seems a natural. :head:

I moved my batteries to my cuddy this past summer. Next chance I get I will get some pics. You're gonna need some heavy wire. At least 2ga to go directly to the motor.

Luckily the boat is shrink wrapped and I can still get in.
The wiring is a little messy because it was all moved around when I moved the batteries. And I wanted to get out to Tice's.

Pete, that's a nice rig. I especially like how you got the batteries up off the floor with the wood base. I think I'm gonna steal that design when I do mine.

Yes! Thank you for the pics. My boat is covered with 10 inches of snow, so will have to wait to get started.

I'm not much for wiring............and the shop I prefer tells me it will be a costly project.

I'm not sure how this will help ya but here's the setup I did in my Monte Carlo

Not quite a finished product yet but functional... two of the batts are on one bank and the third is on the other... The eventual plan is put all three on bank 1 and a 4th starting only battery on the other side of the boat as bank 2.
The single starting battery will be for both engines and the generator. And the 3 will be for house functions only unless I need to flip the switch for a dead starting batt.

With the weight of the big Opti out back my boat was slow to drain any water on deck. Moving the batteries up front put her right back in balance. I used the now empty spot in the back to mount a milk crate so I can keep all kinds of extra fluids,cleaners,prop wrench,etc.

I have one battery - in the transom battery storage section. Doesn't cause a weight issue at all, but probably cool to move that approx. 50 lbs forward.

I have duals in the back--one on each side--pain to get to, but are not all batteries.

I have thought of moving them up front as well(I would run a 2/0 battery cable from there to the motor-only about$105 for 25') but I would lose some iceing and storage for my tuna runs, and the pounding they would take versus the transom is a pretty big difference---my .02

Cut a hatch in the deck between the fish box/storage hatch and the cuddy entrance. Put a floor in it with a cut out to the bilge and mounted an automatic 1500 GPH forward bilge pump in case the aft one goes out or I'm in a really deep doo doo MJ wave over the bow type situation. Running two Interstate group 24 1000 cranking amp starting batteries on a 1-both-2-off switch mounted to the forward bulkhead with 1 gauge cable running back to the engine through the starboard rigging rings. Good use of unused space and moves some weight forward off the stern. Easy to get to and doesn't take away from the cuddy in deck storage.

Got the hatch idea from Phatdaddy, the battery setup from Spareparts, the wire gauge from MJ.

Another great point for you guys on batteries--One Good/high cca rating battery and a deep cycle for the second battery with a high reserve capacity.

I handle charging, starting and battery issue's or prevention there of for a living.
