our friend Eric

ya'll read some of my comments about our friend Eric, he's 19 and going thru his fourth battle with brain cancer. They did a special on him on the news tonight. Did I mention he's a Clemson fan?

I have prayed for him, hope someone is listening Dave

That's a great piece about Eric. ... and a really sad one about Conner. Reading his parents Facebook posts brings home the overwhelming horror of it all. I am so sad for them. My thoughts and prayers will continue to flow out for and to them both. In God we trust.

Pipe_Dream 11-26-2013 08:02 AM

Oh man . . .

Prayers for them both.

We don't know how fortunate we are...

And Spare, seeing this, and knowing what you have gone through with your daughter is one of the reasons why you remain one of my heros. God bless you man.

Conner is making good progress, its going to take a while. We had dinner with Erik and his family tonight(my wife's birthday), Eric was doing pretty good. He found out today, that some one gave up some tickets to the South Carolina/ Clemson game this weekend. Seats are in row one! He's on cloud nine, all covered in orange.

cfelton 11-27-2013 07:31 AM

Praying for both! Hope the good progress continues! As Reel said, we don't know how lucky we are!

to let you know how strong he is, even in a wheel chair, on oxygen, and partial paralyzed from a series of strokes, he went to waffle house today to eat(one of his favorite places). He's ready for the Clemson game tonight

bradford 01-17-2014 04:46 PM

Sorry to hear for his family and friends. Reminds me of the sailboat on the horizon story though.

GREYWOLF 01-17-2014 05:01 PM

so sorry to hear that , prayers sent for family and friends

Destroyer 01-17-2014 09:27 PM

Damn. :rain: My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family and to you also Spare. I know how much it hurts you too. I'm so sorry.

spareparts 01-18-2014 12:39 AM

it hurts so much, Eric was family, far beyond normal ties. When we were recovering from my daughters treatment, Eric was the first success story we met, he was the first glimmer of hope, the first answer to our prayers that a cure was to be found. He was in his forth year being clear, only to have it come back two years later. i'm very frustrated in having too many people I've loved die to cancer. My daughters thought of Eric as their brother,my wife thought of him as her son. with due respect, I never assumed the role of father as he has a good one at home. It still hurts to the core. I'll leave my oldest daughters thoughts(I'm so proud of her) https://www.facebook.com/kaylee.hall...05243356197803

have the winds and tide in your favor and the sun at your back Erik, you deserved it!

willy 01-18-2014 09:19 AM

So sorry for you and for Eric's family my friend. So young, so brave and so loved.
My sincerest condolences

cfelton 01-18-2014 09:44 PM

Really sorry to hear about Eric. Thoughts and prayers sent for you and his family and friends. At least he won't have to suffer anymore, he's in a much better place now.

randlemanboater 01-18-2014 09:52 PM

Praying for you all.

Pipe_Dream 01-20-2014 09:54 AM

Thinking of you all in this most extremely difficult time.

RidgeRunner 01-20-2014 01:08 PM

God bless Eric and his friends and family. Dave, I am so sorry to hear about this. I am sure you and the entire family are in mourning. Words seem inadequate. I can only imagine the end of his suffering would help to offset the pain in your heart for the loss of this brave young soul. RIP Eric.
