I will put that on my list of events I want to attend but wont be able to because I have 3 active teenage kids. |
sorry, its in May, http://www.ncmaritimemuseums.com/bea...s-weekend.html
Wilmington has one also http://cfcc.edu/martech/boatshow/ Charleston has had one in the past, but I don't think they had one ere this year. |
I use ta go the Wooden Boat show in Va. it was some beautiful wooden boats there. The craftsmanship that goes into building and caring for boats like that is amazing. Loved the old Elco and ChrisCrafts, they all were nice!! I use to have a 37 ft. Colonial cabincruiser, pecan hull over whiteoak frames and mohogany interior. It had two slant six 225 chrysler marine six cylinders in it. Man that thing sounded sweet, still miss it!

"Views from the 24th Annual Georgetown Wooden Boat Show (Georgetown, SC)" on a recently discovered website called US 17 Coastal Highway. Pretty cool (the photos from the show and the site itself). http://www.us17coastalhighway.com/20...getown-sc.html I'm definitely going to put that boat show on my list. |
That's a cool site about Hwy 17 Pipe! I spent an hour plus scanning through it and saw a few places I recognized. Whenever I travel I prefer to take the backroads, never know what you're gonna find. Added it to my favorites list. Thanks!

in that first picture, the big boat with the twin stacks is the Osprey http://ospreyboatcharters.com/ its owned by a good friend of mine, the web site hasn't been updated and it still list the late Lucas Smith as Captain. teh boat sitting in front of it is the Peaquad II, its owned by another friend of mine that lives near Long Beach, NC

It sounds to me like this boat show could be a future meet up for V-20-ers. http://scmaritimemuseum.org/ai1ec_ev...ow?instance_id |

I forgot to mention, the Osprey used to be called the Blue Heron II, I fished that boat when I was growing up out of Sneeds Ferry, NC. It was the head boat out of Swan Point Marina, my friend Donnie had owned the Osprey for about a year before I figured out it was the old "Heron. Its a small world.

That is a cool site about US 17.
I have traveled different stretches of 17 for most of my life...when I was a kid living in Georgetown, it seemed like the trip to Charleston down 17 took 3 days. |
Thanks for this thread SP...the only boats I like better than old V-20's are old wooden boats.
When I was a teen there was a wooden head boat that ran out of Holden Beach that I used to go out on...can't come up with the name right now though |
